I was editing my Bowdoin essay and I saw that I was to put my social security number at the top of this essay - I do not feel comfortable sharing my social security number unless it is absolutely necessary, and this is a family policy – I cannot imagine why they need my social security number, do you think I am required to give it?

I didn't put mine on the top of my essay.
I did put it on the main Commonapp forms as well as the Bowdoin Supplement I think.

I wouldn't worry about that at all....they recognize that putting a social security number on something is sensitive and therefore isn't 100% necessary

oh yea, haha, and I just reread it and I thought it said "we will not consider your application complete with out this" [meaning with out your social security number] but it really said "with out this essay" so I'm assuming it'll be fine
