<p>I noticed that WashU and possibly a few other schools ask for your last name and SS number at the top of your essay. Should we do the common app this way all across the board, for all schools?</p>

<p>It couldn't hurt. In the case that your stuff gets lost in the shuffle, it'll be a lot easier to find if it's got your info on it.</p>
<p>Some schools automatically include the name and ID# after uploading. You could check on the preview before submitting to see if this is the case. Otherwise it is a good idea to include it yourself.</p>
<p>The common app states you should list your name, high school, and date of birth. DD did not put her SS anywhere. Her name is unique enough.</p>
