Bowles Info

Hey, I am attending Bowles for next year. I was wondering, i heard each floor had to share a bathroom. How many showers are in each floor? Also, are they opened showers (like gym) or do they have doors for more privacy?

thanks.

Bowles is unique. It's old. The configuration of the building is awkward. You are right and wrong with regards to the bathroom situation. To start, some bathrooms have sinks, urinals, and showers. Some have toilets only (no sink, no urinal). Others have a combination of some of the above, while there is one restroom that has a dryer in it and another restroom that has a washer in it. I lived on the seventh floor last year. It's the easiest to talk about, since the top floor runs along the main axis of the building and doesn't encompass any of the wings of the buildings. The seventh floor has four restrooms with seven rooms. Two of the restrooms have sinks, urinals, and showers, while the other two are toilets only. Each "side" (if you consider the central stairway as a dividing line) has each of the above, although it is not uncommon for Bowlesmen to develop "favorites" (especially with regards to toilets and shower heads) so you pick and choose whichever restroom you want. There are certain rooms situated in special corners of the building, and one room actually has its own restroom (that is, it is directly across the hall but access to this restroom can be limited by closing a hallway door, since this room is situated apart from other rooms on its floor). There are paired showers, with a central screen between the stalls and curtains for privacy. Be wary though: there is a metal bar that holds up the curtains, and one's reflection can be seen from the other side (I didn't find this out until March- oh my goodness). I've written a lot of other stuff about Bowles in different threads. Search through older threads and you'll have a better idea of what to expect come this fall.

Have fun at Bowles,
TTG

sounds like paradise...
