Hi! My boyfriend is a student at a top university in the US. I applied early to that college but got deferred. I want to send an additional essay and mention why I want to study at that university. For that, I thought about including my boyfriend and how, after talking every day on Skype, I got familiar with that college and its spirit. Also, I wanted to talk about how we helped each other reach success. We both participated in Science Olympiads (frankly, that’s how we met).
Terrible idea. No serious college will care if your bf attends or not.

It would be fine to talk about how you have friends at the college and that’s how you got familiar with it, but indicating that you have a romantic relationship at the college makes the story less impactful. I’d leave the romantic part out.
Definitely DO NOT talk about your boyfriend as part of your reason you’re interested in the college. You will NOT be taken seriously, and in fact, you might even be taken fully out of consideration altogether because you will come across as immature and not serious.

It may help if you were married. Universities like to keep families together, but I am not advocating you do so just for college admissions. BF only, no I don’t think it will help, and it might actually hurt if ADCOMS think that is the reason you want to attend.
