Are there any close schools with boys nearby?
What schools do most of boys that come to wellesley go to, a top five perhaps? To go along with this, some general descriptions if there any traits common to the guys at those particular schools, and feel free to give stories. I just wanted to know what I might be dealing with.

With all due respect to older people, I prefer opinions of current students or ones that have graduated recently =)

We usually have a pretty good mix; we definitely always have lots of MIT boys at parties but there are also usually guys from BC, BU, Babson, and Harvard. You really have a lot of choice with what guys you hang out with, there are some people who go to the same fraternity every weekend at MIT and others who are friends with lots of people from BC. There are some weird guys, but this is not unique to the guys that come to Wellesley. Most are very nice! And smart.

Brandeis is also close to Wellesley--closer than Babson, I think--as is the Olin College of Engineering. There are also various MIT, Babson, and Olin students who cross-register at Wellesley. Depending on the venue in which you encounter them, their personalities can vary widely. Don't go looking for an intellectual conversation at the Tower Court party ;-) (If they've reinstated it.) In a classroom or other setting, they're individuals with as many different traits as any other group of people.

There are, invariably, the guys who come to campus in hopes of getting lucky; they're pretty easy to spot ... and very willing, if you feel so inclined. But, most often, the men are visiting friends/SOs/family or going to class. If you want to meet more men, you'll be better served by going off-campus. Pay attention, and you'll get the low-down on the nice vs. sketchy frats in Boston. You'll also see announcements for parties and special events at Boston clubs. The social scene is whatever you want it to be.

So the boys are all engineers? They are smart, but are they pretentious, capable about talking about not mathematical topics? Some are laid back right?

Also what is tower court?

Tower Court is both a dorm complex--comprised of Tower East, Tower West, Severance, and Claflin--and one of the two large parties of the year. Both it and Dyke Ball (the other biggie) were suspended after a boring night at the AP during Dyke Ball in 2005. I'm not sure if they've been reinstated, yet.

The guys who come to campus aren't all engineers. I didn't meet very many non-Wellesley students (my idea of a great Friday night was popcorn and a movie with my best friends), but plenty of the guys I did see seemed quite normal and able to carry a conversation that didn't revolve around their majors :)

tower court is still here...just under a different name. this year it was called remix 2006.

I know a ton of Brandeis guys who have Wellesley girlfriends- either who they met at a party or they knew from high school in some cases. All I know is that I always hear stories from my friend's girlfriend there about how during fire drills at night, about 1/3 of the crowd was guys in boxers. :P

Wellesley is about 45 minutes from Boston, so any school that isn't Simmons (correct me if there are more women's colleges) will have boys. I generally have nerdier things to do on Saturday night than go to parties, but it is my personal opinion that boys who come to Wellesley deliberately looking to meet (haha) girls are not the people I would like to meet.

Cross Registration is coeducational. Let me say it right now: almost no one from MIT cross registers here. Lots of Olin students do and many of them are boys.

There's also the MIT Matchup, an online MIT-Wellesley-Harvard dating service. I have yet to hear of someone getting a message from any guy other than an MIT Grad student, so I've always been to sketched to try.

This question is difficult for anyone to answer. Um... All of the guys that I have met (at parties or through friends) have been insanely smart and friendly and usually sharing the same interests.

The guys at MIT are passionate about math and science. But it's MIT; you sort of have to be right? They're still laid-back and a lot of fun. There's a reason why most college students around boston like the parties mit throws. It depends on which group of people you tend to meet. I still think all of the colleges are really diverse in areas of study, so it shouldn't be hard for you to meet different kinds of people. I haven't met anybody pretentious. Perhaps passionate about some of the research going on at MIT? But not pretentious.

I don't go to Wellesley but have girlfriends who are proud to get onto what is lovingly called the "Eff-You-See-Kay Truck" (sorry, CC won't let me write it) which stops at Harvard Sq. and at MIT ;-) Once, my boyfriend and I were trying to take the Harvard shuttle back to his dorm on the Quadrangle (far away from the Yard) and we accidentally got onto the abovementioned truck; the girls assumed I was a Wellesley girl who was getting lucky. Haha... In any case, I don't think you'll have any problem meeting guys in a place like Boston.
