I've heard a perception from some that boys have it easier in admissions at Mac. Mac students/parents, has that been your experience? What do you think are the stats of the average boy admitted?

I am not a student at Mac, but statistics on CollegeBoard show that women make up 56% of the student body. With that disproportion, its easy to see Mac doing what schools like William and Mary have done and admitting more boys than girls in order to even out the percentages.

If you check the 2007 Common Data Set (the most recent one I could find on the Mac website), you will find that 42% of women and 38.5% of men who applied were offered admittance. The CDS does not break down the stats of those admitted by gender, so it isn't possible to compare GPAs and test scores of male admittees vs. female admittees. But it looks to me like it's harder for guys to get admitted.

I found the Common Data Set for 2008. For men, 40.9% admitted; for women, 41.2% admitted. So, essentially the identical percentages. But as to their stats, who knows.

Interesting, usually it's the opposite with liberal art schools that get far more applications from females (see: Vassar, Wesleyan).
