I'm attending American Legion's Boys State program this summer (I live in MA)...wondering if anyone else here on CC is going, whatever state you live in.

Nobody? =p

Hi, yeah i'm going to boy's state too. I'm going to the one in California, since i live there. r u nervous about going?

Going to one in South Carolina.

Nervous? Not really...should I be? =p

I'm going to the California one as well!

going to IL one

I guess there's no reason to be nervous. I just am, from what i've received in the mail and such, sounds kinda intense (electing and running towns?) etc. I'm sure it will be fun. hey from what part of california are you? the one who is also going to the CA one

Yeah, it's better than school though, don't know anyone there...haha, hopefully. Wow, was your mail thing WRITTEN IN ALL CAPS? Looked almost like a legal cease or desist letter warning of pending litigation.

Nobody going to the MA one?

Going to the KS one. I didn't get anything in the mail yet though, maybe I should email the director guy...

I'm from southern California, about 100 miles southeast of LA. I can't wait to go but it certainly does sound intimidating.

I got mine at school, so check with your school. We had an assembly thing with last year's delegates from our school explaining it to us...for boys and girls state. Guys were like, "Yeah, it's work but its great fun." Girls were like, "Yehhhhh...it's a lot of work, so if you like that sort of thing...eh...go for it?"

Im going to the one down here in good old Georgia... wow its going to be conservative...I keep telling myself that I will come home alive.

I went to California Boys State last year. I interviewed and got all the paperwork done early on, and then sort of forgot about it. Then about two days before I realized I was going to spend a week with tons of complete strangers. I was kind of nervous at first, but its a really awesome experience. It will be unlike anything you've ever done before. It's also cool because it really lets you gauge how good you are in new situations, which is important with college coming up, because believe me no one knows anyone there.

The only bad thing, is that there are no girls. A week of seeing just guys, its pretty rough, but you get through it.

ND Girls State has songs about how there is no boys at Girls State

Girls Girls Girls that's all I see
THere's not a guy in the vacinity

Oh the boys we have at girls' state they say are mighty fine
they're either over eighty or else they're under nine.

You'll see people your age of the opposite gender if you are staying at a college. There are always the summer students,

So, anyone who is going to the California Boys state in Sacramento, are you going to a luncheon this sunday? May 15 in La Mesa, San Diego? If so, what kinda of clothing are you wearing? i dont know if i should wear casual/semi nice clothes or full on long sleeve shirt, and tie and pants and such. Any suggestions/comments?

I'm going to a luncheon in my town, but to be honest it never really occured to me to dress up for the occasion...damnit lol can someone help us?

wear...fancypants.

hahaha, that was a good one. (no joke/sarcasm) yeah......um... it'd prolly be a good a idea to know what to wear. someone. anyone out there who knows, pleez help, mines this sunday

wear something like what you would wear to church on a typical sunday service,
