Melsmom, pop the champagne! wahoo...that is really great! Those local scholarships are very special and your D got a substantial whopper of one! My D had gotten some local ones at graduation too but they were one time only, not for all four years. That is a very generous scholarship given out where you are. Your D should feel much pride for being selected! And yay for you on the pocketbook! Every single source of scholarship helps. Congrats and go celebrate at your house!

Thanks, Sooz, I just may do that...it's also Mel's last day of High school. Wow, what an amazing whirlwind this year has been!

Wow, it is even a bigger night to celebrate then! This is early to get out of high school it seems. Guess when our seniors graduate?? June 24! Big day at your house!

Congrats Melsmon on ALL of your news!! That is really great...10,000 is a nice number!!! It does seem early, but I do know some schools do get out before Memorial Day...our date is...June 6...yes, 06-06-06. I was not involved in the date selection....
Anyway....woo-hoo to graduating and the scholarship!

My son was named valedictorian of his graduating class!!!!!

You all on this forum will understand what hard work it takes to make this happen when a student is doing theatre rehearsals and / or shows all the time throughout high school. All those very late study nights paid off for my son! I'm proud!

WOW - #1 is a cool place to be.....COngrats!!

Ericsmom, wow, congratulations to Eric! That's quite an achievement! It sure has been a great year for him! Bravo!

Here at our school, I find that those who end up as val are NOT just super students academically but also are deeply engaged in extracurricular passions, as is the case with Eric. Like you say, it is a lot of work to do well at school and also excel outside the classroom. Some thrive on it.

And I am glad your son is being recognized for his accomplishments. Enjoy! Is he giving the speech at graduation? If so, it is another crying towel moment.

Incredible news. I just can't imagine that boy's schedule (and lack of sleep). Who ever said guys can't multi-task????

Congrats to Mom.

Thanks, thanks, thanks to all!

Yes, lack of sleep is the story of our lives! I'm often on the computer late waiting for him to get home!

Soozie - he actually spoke today at the awards ceremony and gave the class gift to the school. Today was crying day! Graduation is tomorrow, and they don't do speakers based on the top grad's, as they only announce them the day before. The class elects their speakers for the different events. He was pleased to get elected to speak today and to be off the hook and stress free for graduation!

They will have a student speak at graduation and another will introduce the famous speaker they have - novelist John Grisham!

Ericsmom-

WOW and proud you should be! Is their anything such as an "innumerable threat"????

CONGRATULATIONS,
studio

What wonderful news!!! You have such a very special son there! I know you are so proud! So talented, so smart and so handsome! He really has so much going for him! Enjoy the graduation today...it's the beginning of a new world of adventures which will surely bring a lifetime of successes his way! Congratulations!!!

Ericsmom - What wonderful, exciting news! Congratulations proud mama!

Allow me to chime in here with a very hearty Congratulations! What an incredible achievement for Eric :)

Wow! Incredible. I must meet your son (and introduce him to my daughter, lol!)

Thanks, everyone, we survived and had a very nice graduation day. John Grisham was an entertaining graduation speaker. We had family and friends over afterwards and had a very nice visit. Eric had to leave early from our little party to go to theatre rehearsal that he was late for. Now he can be fully committed to the show that runs in June. What a relief to get school behind him!

rossji - Maybe they will get to meet in NYC one day! I'm looking forward to CC kids performing together in the future.

kaysmom and Melsmom - Eric looks forward to being in NC next fall and seeing you and your daughters again! We continue to be very pleased about Elon for him, and I know he is excited.

We are psyched about Elon too, and looking forward to seeing you all there too.

PS...Sorry rossji, your D has to get in line behind the Elon girls ;)

Hahahahaha!! Too funny!! :)

My D is beside herself- in addition to the stress of auditions in the fall she has just been cast as CLAUDIA NARDI (who sings my favorite song- Unusual Way) in NINE for the fall. She is so happy!! Just had to brag a bit!! Anybody in NorthCentral PA , come to the PA Playhouse in Bethlehem!

MikksMom

Mikksmom, that is fantastic news! That is impressive for a girl her age to get that role in an adult production as well. It is a GREAT role in a wonderful show. It'll shape up to be a good year for her. My D was in that musical two years ago at her theater camp. She played Lillian LaFleur. Freelance (who posts here)'s D was Claudia in that production.

I know it seems like a lot that your D will be in this adult production in the fall along with college application season but my D was in an adult production, too, fifty miles from us, during the fall she was applying to college....from late August until mid November, and went from that into another show. Yes, it is insanely busy but somehow it all gets done!

Thanks soozievt! It was a combination of her looking (and always playing) older roles successfully and a younger Guido - 2 Guidos got called back and the younger one got the role. It is a great show and she is happy! She was planningon using the song as an audition piece anyway so she'll just be really good at it.

And thank you for letting me know the fall can be done by your experience.....I am still wondering how it will work but I know it will in the end.
I wouldnt feel nearly as secure without this board!

Thanks again!
