mm1215...that must be what he was talking about then...it was hard to eavesdrop w/o appearing to be eavesdropping :)

WMon, LOL.

Musicmom1215 - Congratulations, how exciting! We will be watching and voting for your D in the process!

Congrats to your daughter! That sounds like so much fun. A good friend of my daughter's auditioned and will be in Kelly Rowland's choir and was given a solo part. My daughter wasn't able to audition because she was cast as Jo in the regional premiere of Little Women which opens on December 20th. They've been running commercials and I've seen my daughter's friend. Do you know if your daughter would be in the commercial?

OKC was the last choir assembled (I'm pretty sure) and they have not started rehearsals yet, to my knowledge. I know they will rehearse this weekend, but I'm not sure if they start before then. They have not been in the commercials.

Congrats to your D, too. Wow, this Christmas season seems so much busier than others!

Oh, and WMonMTDad, with a little practice one can get quite proficient at eavesdropping without the appearance of it! lol

Alismom,
Congratulations to your daughter for being cast as Jo! I hope she has a wonderful time working on the production and I'm sending break a leg wishes.

Truth be told...we started eavedropping when we realized he was talking approvingly to someone about S's performance in the show that night and then just kept listening to see what else he might say; so I guess it's OK. But now I'm curious to know if the guy ultimately did make it into the choir! I guess we'll just have to wait and watch to see if he shows up.

Congrats again to your D though. Having heard her recital that Sunday, I can assure the others she clearly has the pipes for it. A truly lovely voice

Thanks for the nice compliment, WMonMTDad.

If you know who the guy was who was talking about it, maybe I can tell you if he made it. I know she mentioned 2 boys who did, and there may be more. She also mentioned a lot who auditioned, but she was surprised they did not make it, so there were lots of names flying around. My brain has a hard time keeping up! lol

Haven't a clue...I would guess he was a jr, balding and what was left was dark cropped and short, average height, solid but not stocky I think but to be honest part of the eavesdroppping scam was to listen harder than we were looking.

Honestly, it was a kind of a wierd feeling being there that weekend. We really didn't know a soul there although I did recognize a few faces from the OCU 2010 class facebook group they established just before school started (yes, I peeked some). S introduced us to some of his friends as the chance presented but mostly we would visit with him and then stand by when someone came up to speak to him. I just acknowledge it as one of those inevitable steps as he carves out his own life and move on. I fret less about it that way. :)

I know what you mean about not knowing anyone and just kid of standing around! I'm sure it's that way for most of us parents, not like high school or community theater where we know lots of people. We have met some of the kids and a few of the parents. Only one CC parent though. Next time I talk to S, I'll ask him who the other kids are, I know he said there were a few.

musicmom1215 - Congratulations! That's so terrific - I'll be sure to watch the show. It is such a great opportunity for your daughter.

MM1215 - you can count on votes for your D from our household! I'm very excited DD will be home to watch it with us so she can point out who your daughter is.

srw - it looks like i'll finally get to see your son perform in the Ballad of Baby Doe as K was cast in her first mainstage opera at OCU and I hear he was as well. We're beyond thrilled; have to miss a wedding but I don't care. Hope to see you (and perhaps meet other CC parents) in February at OCU, our first trip to see a show that DD will be performing in.

Carole

Jordansmom....nice to hear from you and for a great reason...BRAVO to your daughter on being cast in a mainstage opera! Great news! She must be flying high. I hope she enjoys it and I am sure you will be thrilled to see her in it.
Best,
Susan

AND....srw.....congrats to your son on his casting as well! Your kids must be wonderful singers!

Carole, way to go for your D! Our kids are in the same voice studio and he said that your D has a great voice, lots of projection, he said she can be easily heard from the back of the recital hall. I believe MTpop's S is also cast.

Sooz, Thanks!

I guess we won't be seeing Musicmom's D, she'll probably still be in NY!

This probably should continue on the OCU thread. Come on over!

Hi everyone, remember to watch Clash of the Choirs starting Monday night, 7:00 CS Time, I think and vote for the Oklahoma choir and musicmom's D!

Thanks, srw! I've been out of town and rushed in to post a reminder, hoping everyone would see it before it was too late. She was on the Today Show this morning. Having a great time, but working hard.

musicmom, how will we recognize your D?

She said she is the only girl with red hair in her choir. All the singers in her choir will be wearing green, so her hair is the only way I know of to find her. Now that you mention it, she hasn't said where she is standing. In the rehearsal videos I saw, she was on the right side on the end, but it may not be the same in every song.

Hey Musicmom! Congrats, great show, I loved it when he asked you D (who was singing Ava Maria) if she knew anything in English! They sounded great and she looked great, you must be so proud. I also recognized some other OCU kids, the guy with the pink scarf is also from OCU, lol, it's especially funny since my S tells some great stories about that guy. Gotta go vote!
