Kudos to your for being able to take such pleasure in your good friend's success and thanks so much for letting us know. I'm betting that I'm not the only poster on this board who is thrilled but not surprised by the quality of her work. Please pass along my Brava and let her know how proud of her we all are.

Bravo Notarbel!! For being such a supportive friend and classmate to see the show and to feel excitement and pride for your friend's performance...and thanks for sharing it here. You are a true theater friend, I can tell.

Thanks so much! I felt like it went well for opening night, but tonight was overall better. I guess nobody noticed when I almost slipped and busted my butt during the flower scene! LOL It wouldve been kinda hard to suck too bad with all the awesome coaching Ive received. Not to mention the wonderful director. I have learned a lot. Will I be ready to make all those choices independently in four years? Well see I dont know what Im gonna do with myself when this is over with! <3 <3 <3

P.S. This is my 300th post. I'm a memba! Hollaback!

Thought it was time to bring this heading back. This afternoon I got a call from my son sharing with me that he was very nervous about his first professional audition since starting at OCU. He auditioned for Oklahoma City's Lyric Theatre's summer season. A couple of hours later he calls elatedly to share he was given a call back for this Sunday. He is so excited! Before he left we talked about that each audition made him that much closer to a part and that this is just a learning experience. Wow what a fun learning experience. OCU has given him so much this year! He has a bunch of auditions scheduled in the next couple of weeks so this is really a confidence booster.

On another note I have trouble keeping all the posters straight would it be OK in posting in their profile something like

It is fine to put that in a profile, I am sure. Just is a matter of each person's preferance whether to do so. I can't keep everyone straight either.

I know how thrilling it is when your child calls with this kind of exciting news. Even though they have gotten into college, the applying or auditioning for things does not end. The past week has been that sort of week for both of my children and they still call us right away with "guess what??"

I hope your son gets cast but I hope he also knows that getting that far on the professional auditions is very affirming in itself. I wish him well. It is such a small theater world and to think your son and my D shared a stage a while back and here we are meeting up on this forum.

I'm happy to say my d was just cast as Emma Carew (Jekyll & Hyde) yesterday. This is perfect timing as she will be busy and not have time to think to much about college. This production will be outside of school, however, it is a fellow classmate who is directing. Timing is perfect!

Lexismom, that is fantastic news (and at a good time of year too!). That is SUCH a good part. I think your D is going to really enjoy doing this show. This past summer, my daughter was in a J and H production as Lucy Harris, and I had never seen this musical before and there are some great songs, acting opportunities, ensemble numbers, and roles in it. Emma is one of them! Definitely a lead and with great songs. Great way to end high school. Glad she has this to look forward to and keep her busy as well.

Oh Cool, I get to brag? Finally an outlet as D never allows it around here [home].

Anyway, here goes, so far this school year...
D was cast in a MT/drama troupe that is traveling to Wales this coming summer to do an exchange with a HS there.
She did a Hal Leonard instructional DVD with the King Singers [from the UK].
Is currently Gertrude in her HS's production of Seussical the Musical, running through this weekend!!!

Ahhhhh, it feels so much better to get it out. I am so happy for her, she is having a ball.

Oh and her Varsity ski race team went to state and did very well too!

That's awesome! I am so dance-challenged that I am not sure I would even recognize a triple pirouette, D certainly didn't get her talents from me! My dad was adopted, maybe some latent gene came through...

So has my D...In addition, she's just been cast as Sally Bowles in Cabaret at The Strand Theatre in Lakewood, NJ. I'm not promoting, but if anyone were interested in going, I believe they have a web site. She's excited about this role because she played it two years ago in high school and feels that she can really expand her role this time since her voice is stronger than ever and her life experiences will really come into play with her acting.

I still stop in here once in a while, and would like to add my brag. My kid got a lead in the musical. No, not my MT/Dancing Daughter you all know. My SON. My computer geek/soccer playing/going to be an engineer SON is playing "Gaston" in the high school version of "Beauty and the Beast". And because our director believes in "family", my Husband was cast as "Maurice", Belle's Father. Due to my extreme musical abilities, my role is "Person in charge of ordering T-shirts" and "Person in charge of selling flowers".

Yeah Lynnm!! I am so happy to hear!! You must be so proud. "Chicago" is my all time favorite!! Congrats to your d! Keep us posted on how it all goes.

Peggy- Congrats to your s as well. Gaston would be a fun role...transgenderly speaking. LOL ;)
