Brandeis application

Hi!

I saw Brandeis and fell in love with it immediately last April. After seeing so many colleges, I really don’t think there is any other school I want to attend nearly as much as Brandeis, but, like any college-bound senior, I’m dreading acceptance day.

I won’t turn this into a look-at-my-grades-am-I-good-enough post, but I will say I consider Brandeis a fit/slight reach. I also come from a very competitive High School class, and am probably not near the very top. I want to make applying to Brandeis as smooth and successful as possible…any tips? Would applying Early Decision make any difference, especially since I felt such a connection at my visit? What should I highlight most on my application, if anything?

Thanks for any help you can give!

certainly apply ED if this is such a strong first choice!

ED can make a world of difference. Brandeis especially values “interest” and there is NO BETTER indicator of that than ED.

Definitely, definitely, definitely apply ED. Also make sure you interview and show your interest for Brandeis. On your “Why Brandeis” essay, think to yourself why you love Brandeis so much and right a short and poignant essay on it.

thanks everyone! I think I’m gonna do ED…I mean, why not? Finances are a different story, but an admissions counselor said they work with prospective ED applicants to work out a financial plan. Can’t wait.

Thanks again  Also sorry about this strange name…not my choice.

Remember, if you cannot afford the tuition the ED contract becomes void. You just can’t go to another school and then afford around the same tuition, your option afterwards has to be lower in cost.

We were at Brandeis today. They say that on ED, they do try and work with the family. BUT, they said that before applying ED, if finanical aid is a concern, that you should call the financial aid office first because the contract is binding. They award full financial need but different schools can calculate it differently. So, I would be cautious.
