Brandeis...cutthroat?

Are the students at Brandeis really competitive? Going by the Jewish stereotype(smart, rich, prude), are the students really cutthroat? I really don’t want to be in that kind of environment.

On another note, how are the dorms? I wasn’t able to visit because of the snow on Open Campus and didn’t get a chance to revisit.

One more thing, how does Brandeis fair with Rochester in terms of academics, social life, research opportunities, and med school acceptances?

The dorms are good. I have seen nicer and I have seen MUCH worse. I think they are a pretty liveable size.
Can't speak for Rochester.
And as for the cutthroat thing, NO. Definitely not at all (not quite sure about premeds, but they seem to be okay). That's one of the things I like best is that no one's going to be up in your business demanding your grade-everyone has their own things to worry about. In high school I found that people compared grades and GPA a lot but you won't find that here. My friends and peers will ask me how an exam went, but that's out of concern and not in a 'I-want-to-see-if-I-did-better-and-gloat' way. Also people form study groups and whenever I need something there's always someone willing to help me out. Everyone's smart, everyone has a fair amount of work, and everyone's willing to help those who ask.
