Brandeis university class of 2020 regular decision thread

Hi! Accepted as a midyear – if anyone knows anyone who attended as a midyear student, could they possibly share their experience? Thanks!

@SydneyCO Wow, we have a lot in common! I too had a 28 score (but I submitted it), showed I was passionate about social justice, and was admitted as a midyear. Any clue what you’ll be doing for the fall semester? I’m still waiting on other colleges, but I would love to attend Brandeis!

I got into brandeis a few days ago and my financial package just came through!! I got a presidential scholarship worth 60,000 does that mean I’m technically getting a free ride? Is this just a scholarship or should I be expecting any loans?? I’m surprised to get this much I was expecting a work study or something. Congrats to everyone else too!!

Was the financial package emailed or sent through the post? Thanks!

@rhyiel It sounds like a scholarship, but a lot of times colleges say it’s “worth 60,000” or some higher number by multiplying it by 4. It sounds like it’s $15,000/year - technically $60,000 when spread out over 4 years. http://www.brandeis.edu/sfs/scholarships/meritscholsexp.html#BranMerit

@LibbyOK I got a similar letter in the mail. It said full financial aid packages will be sent in the next few days, I assume by mail. This was just a letter from Brandeis saying you got a merit scholarship from them.

Accepted, International & Global Studies. 2260 SAT, 97.313/100 UW GPA (not positive what that is on a 4.0 scale…). Essay was about how my interest in Les Mis resulted in my involvement in social justice activism & my interest in international politics. I suppose that fits with Brandeis’s emphasis on social justice?
I visited over the summer and loved the school. My first choice is American University in DC, but if Brandeis comes through with the $$$, then there’s a good chance I’ll end up there.

My son was admitted mid-year, too. Spoke with financial aid staff who said mid-years are equally eligible for grants and merit scholarships (start date is not considered). Have any mid-years received merit scholarships so far? It sounds like the mid-years form really close friendships that last throughout their time at Brandeis. We are excited about the opportunity and hope it works out!

@LibbyOK I received my merit scholarship letter along with the acceptance letter today. I live in the midwest.

Thanks! D got hers today too as luck would have it - letter via U.S. Postal Service. We live in CA.

Received acceptance letter in the mail today along with $60K ($15K/yr) presidential scholarship

I also received the Presidential Scholarship

I received the Justice Brandeis Scholarship for $17,500 per academic year. Hopefully need-based aid will cover the rest; fingers crossed.

Does every student receive a merit scholarship?

I also received the Justice Brandeis Scholarship in the mail today. $17,500 per year/$70,000 for 4 years.

I also was just accepted to the Leadership & Health Leader-Scholar Community (LSC).

Also accepted to the Leadership and Health LSC

Did they just mail merit aid, or did they do financial as well?

Got letter today… got the Justice Brandeis Scholarship and got into the Global Perspectives LSC

does anyone know if brandeis gives need based aid in a separate package? or was everything given in the package that we just got?

@xoskatingcutiexo Financial aid is still to come !
