Brandeis University

I just realized that the school I wanted to apply to, Brandeis University, is a Jewish school. I am not racist but I'm not Jewish, I am Asian. Are most students there Jewish? Is the school super religious?

lol ill give you your answer. Brandeis wants INTELLIGENT people.

Brandeis is an excellent school and I am sure you will feel welcome.

Brandeis is not entirely jewish, nor is it truly a JEWISH school in the same way many christian schools are, as the school isn’t focused on religion or actually affiliated with Judaism. There is obviously a large Jewish presence, and they have kosher food. I believe somewhere between 50-65 percent of the students are jewish, however, there is also a significant asian population. Not to mention, they have a lot of students from outside the country.

Brandeis has no formal religious affiliation. As stated on their website Brandeis is “A Nonsectarian University Founded by the American Jewish Community. Founded in 1948 by members of the American Jewish community, Brandeis brings to American higher education a unique cultural perspective reflecting Jewish traditions of scholarship and community service and the commitment to social justice personified by Louis Dembitz Brandeis, the distinguished Supreme Court justice for whom the university is named.”. Brandeis is a great school with a diverse student body. The fact that it has a Jewish flavor to it should not frighten you away. The school is not super religious. There are no classes held during the High Holidays in the fall and you will get an extra vacation in the spring since classes are not held during passover.

and if it makes you feel any better, the majority of the students who have attended Brandeis from our NJ public in the last few years have been asian as well…if someone else has the stats, I think that the asian population is up to 10%…

Okay, thanks, I guess I’ll apply to Brandeis
