Brandeis vs tufts vs stonehill vs bc

I got into all four of these schools (among others), and initially am favoring tufts, but here is the money:

Brandeis - Presidential Scholarship, $25,000 a year

Tufts - $0 (Loans, work study…doesn’t amount too much)

Stonehill - Various scholarships, $20,000 a year

Boston College - $0

I plan on double majoring in political science/international relations with a pre-law emphasis.

Does anyone have some suggestions about where to go? How great is the difference between Tufts and Brandeis?

I personal think that the difference between the schools isn't worth the money. But if you can swing the 40k/year, then go where it best fits you. Most people I know who chose a school solely on the finances are miserable.

(1) If these are your final four you have to visit each of them and spend more time on campus. Have you visited each? They are all very close to each other so a visit is needed. Which campus did you feel most comfortable at?

(2) Academically, Tufts is probably tops with Brandeis and BC next and Stonehill last. How important is the money? Will you be in debt if you go to BC or Tufts? Will your folks be spending money they really need to save for their retirement? No one but you and your folks know the answer to this question.

(3) I went to Tufts and I'm glad I did. However, Tufts with huge debt versus Brandeis with a big scholarship would tip the scales towards Brandeis in my book.

Just my opinion. Good luck.

shoshie, I feel I must disagree. College is, as we all know, a lot of money. If your parents are very able to pay nearly 200K for your college, then you are very fortunate. I seriously think you should definitely take money into consideration. Do you know what you can do with the 100K you save? Posibilities are endless. (I would be saying the same thing even if Brandeis weren't the school giving you all that dough.)

I would say Brandeis definitly, no doubt, if you want pre-law, it is the best, highest law school admit rate, and known as a "feeder school" to top law schools. Tufts is a close second in that aspect, and maybe a little better overall, but with the money from brandeis, i wouldnt question it.
I can say that Tufts was my first choice, I applied ED, and was deferred, then rejected, Brandeis was my second and I am attending next year.
This may not make sense, but over all the undergrad experience and Campus life at Tufts, I felt was better, and that was a big aspect for my decision in where to Apply ED.
I know I will be very happy at Brandeis anyways, but the social life and campus is a little lackluster in the shadow of tufs, nevertheless Brandeis is an amazing school, and you are very lucky to have received that much moneyfrom them.

i agree with soshie... you can read a lot of things on this forum that say people who go somewhere soley for the $$$ are miserable. I think brandeis is awesome but you might be looking for something else.

There is no international relations major here. Visit all four schools and see which you like best. If you really like Brandeis's atmosphere and classes that might also help your decision. The four schools are extremely different, and strangers on the internet can't help you make a choice that is best for you.
