Breaking down Wall St

MK, I was not at all commenting on going far in life, just the odds of getting an ibanking job. Quite different things. But thanks for the heads up on my lack of team ability. I'll be working with the same team at a leading ibank that I worked for last summer again this summer, I guess they didn't notice. I'll try to be on my best behavior!

Wow, you are really petty. Both of you.

I know, it's sad. Sorry. But why do people post who don't want the truth?

Why did you assume ibanking because I said WALL STREET? Im interested in going into consulting, not ibanking, just because you sweat ibank. I just used GS example because its only personal example I know of someone getting into what is considered a "must be recruited from HYPS job" from a non-target college.

Just because all you 12 year olds on here sweat ibanking, like many others I'm sure have said-you don't know what your getting into.

And by Wall Street I didn't mean the actual street, I meant the business world.

Suze just get out of my thread your not helping/entertaining anyone.

Make sure you make your Carnegie Mellon essays good.

Economics has been known to be a loophole into Tepper so they have moved Econ into the school (half and half as of 2004) and plan to complete the move within the next few years.

Make sure you write how much you love the field and how you are not just another greedy kid who wants to get his grubby hands into Carnegie Mellon's newfound rising business prestige.

Do that and ED might just get you in. It all rests on the essay.

Thanks a lot for the incite, but I also hope to boost SATs considerably, so essay should be a suplement instead of having to carry me whole way...

Sorry you're so insecure as to try to choose your own posters. That's a CC first! Now don't get lost geting to Bain, it's midtown.

I think at your current stats, CMU looks pretty difficult and Lehigh, and Villanova looks fairly difficult. But in the long run, anything is open. Maybe you'll even have suze working for you in about 10 years!

Choose my own posters? Your not contributing anything to the thread in terms of safeties/matches/reaches for my stats or my stats with a little higher SATs, so what good are you really doing for me or for anyone else?

I do not think Villanova is that hard with its 1200+ SAT avg. I think it is a match.

Work on your SAT scores since Tepper/Econ may soon sport 1400 avgs.

If you don't mind religion, Brigham Young Uni would be a good match, they have a really solid Business/Accounting program.

In addition it's very cheap to attend!

Thanks for the feedback, basically everything I listed I know are reaches, just wanted to see what I could due to improve. Thanks for the feedback, are there any good undergrad b-schools that would be match/safety with my current stats?

BYU! Brigham Young

OK, I'll contribute! I'd look at CUNY Baruch. It's in the city and many banks recruit there for back office jobs. If you've got the stuff, you've got a foot in the door and the possibility of catching someone's eye. Remember the movie Working Girl? Then I can work for you!!

bump bump bump

If you live in New York, Baruch is a no-brainer. There are probably more graduates of Baruch working in finance in New York City than all the schools named on this forum so far combined, and with lots left over. The trading floor at the Zicklin School of Business puts Stern to shame.

To be honest I don't think you have a shot at CMU :(. I believe someone said you should look into Penn State which I'd agree on. U. Maryland would also be a good school to look into.

Fordham- ?
Carnegie Mellon(reach)
Villanova-(match)
Lehigh-(reach)
-i dont want to be listed obssed, but carnegie mellon is ranked at #22, before all the others...

Yeah CMU is my ultimate reach. Fordham should be a high match, or a reasonable reach(?) . Any other schools ????

Why not go to a school with a good b-school or econ program and then go MBA or w/e at a Harvard, NYU, or w/e? Some good b-schools I can name off the top of my head are Indiana, Maryland, MSU, and Purude, all of which I feel you have a good shot getting accepted.
