I have my share of reaches, but would like advice on some matches / safeties that fit my stats. I'm looking to stay on the east coast or central if stretching it. I want a big campus thats highly populated, sport teams, pretty diverse, and located in a good area.

Here are some of the schools I have on my list so far:

Big Reaches:

UPenn (not sure whether to apply to Wharton or just CAS for economics)
Cornell

Reach:

Boston College
UMich (applied rolling)

Match/Reach:

Boston University
Villanova University (not sure)

Match:

Penn State (pretty good biz program) (applied priority)
Northeastern (applied EA)

jpps isn't it nearly impossible to get into UNC with my stats especially OOS? A lot of people have recommended Indiana, but I'm sort of turned off by the location of the school...but its just because I'm from NYC and haven't visited it or know anything about the school. I might add it to my list, apply, and if I get in visit when I'm sorting out between the schools I got into.

Are you totally sure Fordham is a safety and not a low match, your SAT scores are average.

Try CUNY Baruch for business undergraduate one of the best in the country and located in the heart of NYC. It should be very cheap for you being a NY resident and you should be able to get in.

Well I was considering Baruch and my GC keeps pushing me to apply, but I don't want to commute...same reason I wouldn't want to go to Fordham because I dont want to stay near home and commute. Baruch doesn't have housing either and would feel like high school all over again. Thanks neway though.

Yeah I live in the NYC area and thats probably the reason why I wont consider Baruch either but it is tempting for me to save a ton of money and go there

I need more schools !!!!!!!!! someone help. I'm on x-mas vacation now so I have to decide what is my final list so I can bring in school reports to my school even though its closed now. (administration offices are open)

my stats are similar to urs... i've got a 1210 on the SAT, 3.9 gpa (uw), and #2 in my class. however, i'm from el salvador so i guess that helps a little. I'd recommend IU, MSU, SMU, UT - Austin (this one will be hard tho), Wake Forest, A&M, Penn State, USC... hmmm i dont know. I've been accepted to IU and TCU (not exactly a top school, but what the hell...) already. I guess being accepted to those universities MIGHT be easier for me 'cos i'm a minority, but i think u'll do fine. if u've taken the sat subject tests then it's a whole different story 'cos there are TONS of others u can apply to. I unfortunately, DID NOT take the freakn tests so now i can't apply to a whole bunch.

oh yeah, and APPLY TO WHARTON, regardless of what others tell u... i know ur chances are slim, BUTTTTTTTTT if u do apply u'll never wonder WHAT IF, so go for it...

thanks fv gl as well...I was thinking about Wharton, but realized that even if I did get in, I'd probably struggle a bit. I'd rather go to a less competitive school and perform well than struggle at the top school.

Yes, Univerisity of Maryland would have a strong business program and a broad university background. If you want a school like Maryland but with smaller classes, consider Towson University. They have a strong business program, are part of Maryland state university system, and you probably can get into their honors program with some merit MONEY!
