Hello,

It looks like Rose-Hulman has 5 breaks of a week or more each year (Spring Break, Christmas, breaks between quarters). Do students typically go home for all of these? Do the dorms close for all of these? I ask because I want to figure out a realistic budget - five round trip flights to California would cost $2000-3000 each year, and there is no transportation item in the student budget.

Thanks!

Campus tends to almost completely clear out for each of the breaks, but that doesn’t mean that students are going home every time. You might have become friends with another student from Cincinnati and choose to go spend the break there or Indianapolis or Chicago or wherever. The residence halls “close” during these breaks, but a student can stay in the hall for $5 per night. Keep in mind that dining services are not offered during times the halls are closed. You would need to stock up on food and prepare to cook your own meals in the hall’s kitchen. Yet another reason that students will find a friend’s place to stay during the break.
