Breakthrough Collaborative

I did a search and couldn't find much information so I decided to make a new thread. Anyone ever participate in this?? How strict are they at choosing people and do they usually accept rising juniors (the summer between soph and jun.)?? Also, do the high schoolers usually get the jobs as teachers or just assistants to older people?

Lastly, if you have attended, please tell me how it was. Fun? Educational? Bad? etc etc

b u m p please

I've spent two summers at BT and it's EXCELLENT. I started after my soph year and continued through my junior year. You may get a job as a teacher, but at some locations (Ft. Worth comes to mind), high schoolers are TAs. At my location (san jose!!), high schoolers were teachers.

It was possibly the best thing I've ever done in my life so far (yes I'm very gushy about this). However, if you're not interested in working...a lot, don't apply. On average, the workday meant you arrive at 7:30 and don't leave till 5:30. But you go home to grade papers, lesson plan, etc (so work doesn't really end till 9 or 10). A few times I didn't leave work until 7:30 PM or later. But it's so rewarding. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
