Hi, I am an international student planning to study Business administration as an undergraduate in the United States, with that being said could you help me with some questions?

Brigham Young University seems to have good reputation in the business major does anyone know is Brigham Young University Hawaii is good as well?

I have read that since BYU Hawaii is not accredited by AACSB their programmes related to business major is not so good, is this true?

Many business programs that are not accredited by AACSB are still quite good. Compare the courses offered at these two universities and the requirements for a business major, and you will be able to see if they truly are very different or not.

BYU is affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - popularly referred to at the Mormon Church. If you are a member of that faith, BYU could be a very good option for you. If you are not a member, attending BYU would be a very challenging social experiment. That is why prc101123 asked if you have visited either campus. You need to know if you could be comfortable in that environment.

I will search about Byu and mormon church, I am not a mormon so is there anything to worry about? I have read that they have very strict rules.

My worry about AACSB was that in they way that the guy sad was that any university without a AACSB accreditation should not have business major and would be hard to find a job with that university degree

If you are not Mormon, then, yes, there is a great deal to understand about the LDS church and its relationship with their colleges before you commit to them.

The church subsidizes these colleges, but it also has very strict codes of conduct for the students in order for the students not to be expelled. Codes of conduct include no alcohol, no tobacco, no sex, no unchaperoned time alone with a member of the opposite sex. Cursing, caffeine use, and a number of other items are also prohibited. These codes are strictly enforced and students (are required to) report on infractions by other students.

If you might like to date while in college, be aware that the Mormon church teaches that marriage to another Mormon in a Mormon temple is a requirement for reaching the ultimate levels of heaven/happiness/whatever. So, most serious Mormons (who would be the majority population of any Mormon college) don’t want to date a non-Mormon, and if they did, then they would often hope/expect that their partner convert before marriage.

LDS is serious business. LDS people are generally expected to comply fully with their church’s teachings in all matters. I have had many LDS great friends, and I lived among them in UT for several happy years, but I could never be LDS, and I can’t imagine many people being happy in an LDS college unless they were also LDS.

The degrees from the schools will also identify you as a probable Mormon to most employers.

So, be certain you understand before you enroll! Google up the schools’ codes of conduct, rules, etc, and maybe google up some info on the LDS church while you are at it.
