Bright Futures requires FAFSA?

Just got an email saying that the requirements have changed if you are getting a Bright Futures Scholarship (which my daughter is) then you need to fill out the FAFSA and it tells you where to go to do that.

The problem is, we already have filed the FAFSA....so do we just do nothing? Why would they send us that email?

I guess I'll call Monday but I just wondered if anybody knew more about this.

Bright Futures now requires the FAFSA.

If you go back into your FAFSA account, you can add the code for Bright Futures to the list that you have there.

Why are they now requiring FAFSA? Anyone know?

Where can we find the code?

I got the email too…but I didn’t file a FAFSA at all since I knew I was probably not going to get any aid. Now the email is telling me I am REQUIRED to file a FAFSA for Bright Futures…but the Florida deadline passed! What am I supposed to do?

I have no idea why they are now requiring it, but there is a thread on this topic in the Parents Forum (and why its there but not here, again I don’t quite know). Here is the link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1161069-florida-bright-futures-changes-no-fafsa-file-no-funds-distributed.html</a></p>

According to the Independent Florida Alligator, the reason for the requirement is to obtain demographic and financial information on Bright Futures scholarship recipients.
