If i went to community college for a semester (starting september) to bring my GPA up, how much could it rise in just one semester?

I currently have a 2.5 i want to raise it up to atleast a 3.0

My question also is if i only went for one semester and kept a 4.0 than applied to colleges would they judge me off that gpa or my old one?

I don't have first hand knowledge, but my impression is that the two gpas would be kept separate. But is the 2.5 your HS gpa, or your GPA at another college/university? That could make a difference. HS will be kept separate most likely.

The 2.5 was my high school gpa.

I took a year off to work full time, now i want to take a semester at the local community college so i can raise or redeem my GPA and than apply regular decision to a better college for next fall.

So i was wondering if they are going to base my application off of my new GPA or my old one.

anyone feel free to pm me if you have any experience on the subject.
