How many people bring TV's to their dorms in college? Do they ever get stolen?

I'm planning on bringing my 32" TV, so just wondering what to expect.

How many people bring TV's to their dorms in college? Do they ever get stolen?

I'm planning on bringing my 32" TV, so just wondering what to expect.

I brought mine last year and will again. I am sure they could get stolen if people leave their doors open or unlocked. I would be more worried about damage. My roommate always left drinks sitting on top of the tv and would knock into it, and she’d leave her hot straightening iron on it to cool and it warped the plastic. You have to keep an eye out for it and shut down anyone who isn’t respecting it.

I think I’m just gonna use my laptop and bring HDMI cables if I wanna connect to one of the TVs in the lounge/rec room.

Dunno if people would like it if I hogged the public TV, playing video games day :P

I brought my TV. It’s simple. LOCK YOUR DORM ROOM DOOR WHEN YOU AREN’T IN YOUR ROOM!!

Easy enough. But what about your room mate? :P

i bring mine.

I imagine that it would be pretty difficult to get away with stealing a 32" TV.

Protip: Get a cable hookup cable for your PC. You don’t want to squander room in your dorm. The only drawback is if you want to play video games, in which case I suggest quitting because video games are the cancer of high-IQ/low-GPA fools the world over.

^ paranoid much? its called moderation.

Moderation is the enemy of Time Management. Video games in moderation is like drinking alcohol in moderation - completely pointless. Are you telling me you enjoy going out and drinking 2 beers?

I had a roommate freshman year who watched 6+ hours of TV a day. She never used headphones. Did I mention all she watched was Lifetime? Needless to say, I hated my roommate, and had to spend most of my time in the library because I could not work in my room.

It’s fine to bring a TV, but watch it in moderation, or just use it during the weekends or when your roommate isn’t there. But maybe your roommate won’t mind it as much as I did. Talk to them about it, BEFORE you move in! (Sorry to give you this warning when you just asked an innocent question, but my year was hell because of a TV. If I can prevent this happening to anyone else, I will :)

I’ll defiantly contact my roommate to see what’s up, and if a TV is going to be that big of a problem to them, I don’t mind not bringing it. Going to be living with the same person for a while, might as well make the stay enjoyable(Bare-able?).

I don’t drink so i have no idea what you speak of.

Self control is another part and yes it is possible to game in moderation, hell knows i’ve done it.

I started the year with a 19" TV…then went up to a 42". It’s awesome in a dorm…and really not too big.

We always kept the room locked…a TV like that doesn’t walk too easily either. Obviously if the room is unlocked for long periods it could.

I don’t watch much TV…but between the few shows that my roommate and I watched regularly, plus sporting events and sometimes movies, it was really nice.
