I posted this on the essay forum too, but I thought I should post it here too.
For my UChicago extended essay, I'm using a Britney Spears song lyric to introduce my point. Is that too weird? I mean, is that okay? I don't want the adcoms to be turned off and think I'm stupid or something just because I used that. The essay itself is actually serious.. it's just my introduction that's a bit humorous. I know Chicago likes quirky people but is that a bit too out there?
I'd appreciate your guys' thoughts.

There’s no such thing as too quirky for Chicago.

My extended essay is a Dear History Channel breakup letter. Idk if that helps you gauge your essay’s quirkiness or anything, but people do write weird stuff, so no worries.

I was accepted and my essay was about Lady Gaga.

I drew a where’s waldo picture and send it to Chicago for my find x essay. Results: I got in. Don’t sweat it.

Okay, thanks so much guys! :)
