Next year will be my junior year of high school, and I would like to start looking at colleges. I plan to go into broadcast journalism, but I have no idea how to find a good school. Does anyone know what the best schools are for this type of journalism? East coast schools are more convenient, and prestige is important to me. Do I need to major in broadcast journalism, or can I major in journalism and get some kind of certificate for broadcasting? Also, is Columbia a good school for broadcast journalism? If you can answer any of these questions, or if you know where i can find answers, please help me! I have no idea where to start looking.

University of Missouri-Columbia....very prestigious journalism school.

Northwestern University-the journalism school and the whole university are prestigious.

Syracuse
UNC-Chapel Hill

Columbia University (NY) has an outstanding journalism program but is graduate level only.

Other top undergrad programs, in addition to the ones listed above are: University of Maryland - College Park, Indiana University - Bloomington, Ohio University - Athens, University of Wisconsin - Madison, and University of Southern California. Some of these are more geared to broadcast than others. Browse each of their webpages and see what you can find out about each program.
