Ok so my current plans are to get an associate degree in broadcasting at a cc then a bachelor in political science at a university and finally a law degree.

My original plan was to get a journalism associates instead of the broadcasting one. So my question is would broadcast journalism allow me to get any real journalism degrees or am i better off just going for journalism.

P.S The Jobs i like the most at this point are Political Analyst, Lawyer, Politician, Journalist, and TV anchor.

It’s not clear if you’d be doing a BJ or a broadcasting tech program at CC. Good BJ and Journalism education programs include much multimedia, nowadays. Any kind of journalism education is good prep for a legal career (but check job market expectations for careers in journalism and law - it’s not pretty). However, many 4-year colleges would not apply many (or any) CC journalism courses toward a BA. Might want to take just a few journalism and media courses that you confirm would transfer and concentrate mainly on gen eds.

From your career ideas, a deep knowledge of politics and an ability to write well are the two key skills. You’d get those from your Political Science major. However, the broadcasting is highly unlikely to give you the low level pol sci classes that you’d need to be able to transfer as a junior in political science.

Depending on your cc and the college you want to transfer to, you could get a lot of experience in journalism/broadcasting with a bit of initiative on the side. Your colleges might have a student tv station, radio station, newspaper, online newspaper etc. You might be able to do an internship with a local newspaper, tv station or radio station. Or you might want to submit articles to publications which accept unsolicited work.

If you enjoy math, economics or a double major with economics might be something to investigate.

Could i at least cover a year of general courses so i guess get the associates and then then transfer in as a sophomore?

Regarding the economics math or science aren’t my best subjects very big differences in grades there
English and history AP- A in both
Math and science General- B’s,C’s
