Thanks I'll let her know. I am sure she will figure something out. If not she will just smell :)

I dont know if they are given time to do laundry, but my friend's d told her mom that she hasn't even worn her "dance" clothes. She has been wearing her cammies and "booty shorts", so she has most of her clothes left unworn. My s on the other hand has a roomate who is from Tampa and his Mom has taken their laundry once and done it for them.....spoiled boys!!! I know it has been raining every day but they are inside most of the time. I am not sure what the arrangement is for the laundry situation.

My D finally checked in last night. In addition to Oklahoma and Baldwin-Wallace, she's met with representatives of Miami and Carnegie-Mellon.

Also, Boston Conservatory.

Just FYI. I am sure that everyone here has done a TON more research than I have on each one of these schools, but I have been told that CMU is a heavy concentration on acting and not so much musical theatre. One of my s's teachers boy went there and is an actor, not a singer.

Does BTP have a grant/scholarship program? I have been reading these past months about all these wonderful summer programs, but I just couldn't afford any of them. I sometimes feel that MT is the profession of the wealthy because I can barely afford voice lessons, let alone acting, dance and summer programs. But of course, unless you have this kind of trainging, it is hard to get into schools that could give you the training... (!?)

When I inquired for a friend this year, I was told that their scholarship fund was quite low and the consideration was going to families with incomes of less than $35,000 per year.

Hi BritBrat,

My D is also in level G. She's 15 and is a rising sophomore in HS. She told me that level G is the highest dance level for the HS kids. She loves her class and is having the time of her life.

Hi Anne 1244,
I wanted to reply to your question about Jay Binder and the big audition he held last Sat. Jay Binder casting did casting for movie musicals: dreamgirls, chicago, hairspray and broadway: A Chorus Line, Grease, Sweet Charity, Movin Out, Lion King , Beauty and the Beast and etc. My D does not know what the audition was specifically for but she had a ball doing it. She made the final cut (I think she said approx. 6 girls and 6 boys were left) in the dance audition and was then able to do a voice audition for him. She said he was the nicest guy and had a great experience. She also said that they just had a master class with Katherine McPhee, and said she was awesome. She absolutely loves all of the teachers, but one teacher that she found to be incredibly inspiring was Eric Liberman, she said his acting classes were self-discovery work and she said it was amazing.

Hi dancingdaughter. My son was in the Jay Binder auditions as well. All I know is that he sang, was called back for dance, and then called back for the Master class to sing again. So it sounds like our kids are having a fantastic time and great opportunities. Your d must be in my son's dance class because he mentioned the range of ages and one girl being 15. That must be her. Being that we don't mention names here, if you want to PM me and share her name, I will ask my son when I speak to him. I am leaving tomorrow for Tampa. Are you going to the show?

Hi britbrat,

Luckily for my D, we only live a couple hours away from Tampa, so I was able to go twice to do her laundry. I didn't get to see her but for a minute, but she was grateful for me doing her clothes. Anyway, yes I am so excited to see the show, I bought tickets for both the matinee and the evening show. I don't know how to pm. If you can tell me how to, then I will pm you. :)

Hi Dancingdaughter: Your D must be a fabulous dancer! My D just turned 16 and, like Britbrat's son, first auditioned for voice and then was invited to audition for dance as well. She was called back for the evening master class and sang two numbers for him.

Strangely enough, she just called this morning and also mentioned Eric Liberman (sp?) and how incredible his classes have been. She also told me that rehearsal went until 1:30am this morning and two girls fainted! As for Group G, my D is in a dance with lots of Group G girls and feeling seriously outgunned! The girl next to her in the dance just found out that she made the Rockettes! Seriously! I assumed she would have been college age, but perhaps that's wrong.

Hi Anne1244,

What a fantastic experience for them to audition for somebody like Jay Binder. Gosh, what a great program! My D told me that yes, the rockette girl just graduating from hs and just turned 18, i think. The rockette girl was the first girl that she told me about, she thinks she's wonderful. My D is also in Kelly's(teacher) tap number. I overnighted a pair of tap character shoes to her and they didn't fit , so i then overnighted another pair to her and those fit. Thank goodness. I think the ages are mixed in the tap number. Actually, my D said the number is more like a flamenco tap, and she did say it was challenging, but she loves it.

Hey anne1244 and dancingdaughter? Did your girls tell you about the "Countess". She is apparantly royalty and is staying at a hotel somewhere and not at the college and is brought to class everyday in a Bentley.....possibly her entourage. Thought that was an interesting bit of info. Just wondered if you had heard?

REply to Anne1244,
After taking an acting class with Eric Liberman, my D called and said that he was the most inspiring and genius person that she has ever met. She said his classes are amazing and he has this incredible spirit that makes you want to be a better person. She was fortunate to also have a private with him. She was so bummed when he left.

To Dancingdaughter: I pulled a pair of black, character tap shoes for my D to pack at the last minute, fortunately. Haven't heard about the "Countess" yet, Britbrat, but given the brevity of our chats, I'm sure there is much more to hear when she gets home.

I am sure :) I thought it was just a fun little tidbit of information!
