AMAZING new summer program for high school AND college students!

Hi all -

I know we have a "summer programs" thread, but I just heard about this amazing new program that will be occuring from Aug. 18-20 in NYC and wanted to make you aware of it. (I know CollegeMom will merge this into the summer programs thread if she needs to.)

Check out the website and LOOK AT THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE UP THIS COLLECTIVE!

(Click on Summer Retreat 2005 and The Summer Retreat Schedule.)

I spoke with Adam Pelty, one of the three Creative Directors of this company, at length this evening and told him I thought many of you here on CC might be very interested in this program and he would love to answer any of your questions. You can email him (email address is on the website) or call the phone number on the website - he is personable and passionate about what he and the collective are doing for young performers!

Nope, I don't work for them. ; ) I am just SO excited by this amazing group of performers who are also committed to TEACHING - obviously these people are the REAL DEAL - yes folks, SUTTON FOSTER is an INTEGRAL part of this group and WILL be there to work with students (although, according to Adam, she's not as available as she would like to be due to rehearing THE DROWSY CHAPERONE). And for those of you who don't know the name - Dave Clemmons, the casting director for whom students of this program will be auditioning, is one of THE major Broadway casting directors, and Rachel Hoffman is his "right-hand casting man." :) Again, the REAL DEAL! This program is basically one huge master class with top industry people.

They are keeping the size of the program VERY small but I know they have room for a few more students - I immediately called all of my best students, most of whom are either already upperclassmen in prestigious BFA programs or soon-to-be freshmen in such programs - and told them to get themselves enrolled! And college CC'ers - there are for sure already several college students registered from top BFA programs. (That info comes directly from Adam.) The cost is also incredibly reasonable - again, check out the Summer Retreat Schedule and the details of all that students will be offered!

Sounds great. Thanks for the heads-up.

Is this going to happen next summer?

Yay Adam Pelty. Yay Interlochen. :) That sounds awesome!

It probably will happen next summer - the plans as it stands now is for that to happen - and perhaps even a workshop over Christmas this year in NYC! I will let you know what my students who attend the workshop this week think. (I am expecting wonderful things.)

I have a friend who is doing a masterclass all week with Adam Pelty, it starts tomorrow. He invited former Interlochen MT alum. He was VERY successful at Interlochen.

aspiring actress....did you go to interlochen?

Yup, I was in Rags with you. :-D ha.

Okay so I'm a retard and didn't listen....what are you gonna do about it?

i dunno...maybe send everybody on here to a certain website...

sorry this is off topic everyone else lol - when our friend whos at the workshop gets back and we hear about it, we'll let you know all about it.

I'm checking in from the Moveable Arts workshop - I actually ended up sitting in (as a vocal health consultant) on their audition workshop this morning - and it's a DYNAMITE program. Great faculty, diverse group of VERY talented and well-prepared students. I will post in detail when I return home. :)

CoachC

Well if you happen to meet Casey Rogers, tell her hi and that you know me! If you say John from Interlochen, she'll know who you're talking about!

AHHH Amy I just realized what website you were talking about!
