Thanks in advance! Any help/suggestions are appreciated!!

I didn’t live in Brody, but I can answer a few of the questions.

If they’re the same as the ones in Hubbard Hall (they likely are), then they can.

For the first semester, I shared a fridge with my roommate (I didn’t use it very much though). Near the beginning of the second semester, I received a small fridge for free, so I used that for storing soda and such. It was nice to have my own, but it wasn’t necessary.

My roommate had a TV, and it was the worst living experience I’ve had. He had it on constantly, and it was very annoying.

I bought a locking file cabinet and used it religiously. Every time I went to sleep or left the room, I locked anything of value in it. I kept my laptop out of the cabinet most of the time, but I always kept it locked securely to my desk. I had no issues with theft.

1-3 I’m not sure of because I haven’t really visited inside brody for more than 2 years…

4- Any information on what amenities the halls have(lounges, vending machines, laundry, etc)

They all have lounges, vending machines, and laundry…MSU dorms have it all. A lot of dorms also have Sparty’s, a smallish convenience store that sometime includes a cafe-type deal. A few dorms also have weight rooms, exercise rooms, computer labs, pianos, cafeterias (of course) etc. I don’t know about brody complex in particular but I’m sure that they have everything.

5- How is the construction impacting every day life?

Not that big a deal. Don’t bring your car and you’ll be fine-some roads are closed off but if you walk/bike/bus everywhere you won’t notice it. Brody’s caf was just renovated, kind-of a pain for brody residents this year but starting this fall i am pretty sure the new caf will be open. A couple other renovations/building is going on, by Berkey hall the new art museum is going up and then I think the case hall caf is being renovated as well (other places as well possibly). But it likely will be a very minor inconvenience at worst

6- Do rommies usually share a fridge or have 2?

Depends. I shared a fridge with my roommate…if you don’t get along with them at all it is probably best to get your own, but generally if you talk to your roommate ahead of time it is normal to share a fridge.

7- Does anybody have a TV in their room?

I didn’t, and I liked it that way…but to each his own. My one friend brought a 50" flat screen - he plays video games on it all the time, but it also has the benefit of all of us going to his room when we want to watch 'the big game." Many cafeterias/lounges have tv’s in them so you can still watch tv sometimes.

8- Where/How so you store valuables when not in your room(jewelry, clothes, laptop, ipod, food, drinksetc)

I trusted my roommate/suitemates wholeheartedly so I just locked my door when I left…no special measures required. For your laptop you can get a type of laptop lock at any tech store that will help track your laptop in case it is stolen. Otherwise I never did anything special, I wouldn’t be worried about theft - just make sure you lock your door when you leave your room (even if you are coming back in a short period of time).

Thanks for all the help! I appreciate it!
