Would anyone like to share what they know about Brooks school? My daughter had a good interview and enjoyed her visit. Everyone seemed friendly and personable. The campus is beautiful and has amazing facilities. Nevertheless we were wondering if it is a good fit for someone who is more academic than athletic. My D does participate in sports but mostly recreationally. She is very strong academically and has good extra curricular interests but would be a misfit at a school where athletics are emphasized more than academics.

The first time I visited, I did not like it at all. My dad persuaded me to go to the open house for applicants, and I did. I aboslutley loved it. I got to sit in on a class, and it was amazing, and really interesting. Brooks does seem to be very sports-oriented, but that is not a huge problem for me. The only problem that I found was that the theatre program seemed VERY small, but it also seemed close-nit, so that the actors could communicate with the director/choreographer.

I think it's really cool how Brooks has that "chatting with Brooks students" thing,
where you can go on AIM on Sunday night,
and a dozen or so students are willing to talk to you about the school (:

What is that about? It sounds really quite intersting, could you fill me in more? thanks

I got an email from the school,
explaining a new program they have called "Interactive AIM Chat With Brooks Students"
It says:
Sunday, Feb. 8, from 7 to 8:15 p.m.

Log on to Instant Messenger or Meebo, then go to the Ask a Student page on brooksschool.org.

Hm.. I can't seem to find Ask A Student? Is it a button on the website, or will it show up on Sunday?

(Oh, and do you mean 7 to 8:15 Eastern? Thanks again!)

I'm pretty sure its E.S.T.
I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure how it works; sorry!

Hi Chai!

Brooks School: Athletic vs Academic Question
From the "News" section on the Brooks School website: in order listed (with some paraphrasing on my part) to give you an idea of range of activities.

Brooks is a very good small school. If you really like Brooks, I would reccomend Governor's Academy. It is a very similar school with slightly better academics.
