could you please rank these schools with reasonings? thanks!!

What you are likely to get when you ask a question like this is a list of schools ranked by acceptance rate and SSAT score or SAT score, and possibly %that go to Harvard and Yale, as if those were the best and only ways to measure a school.

I’m guessing that you asked because these are schools that you are considering attending, in which case, you don’t need them ranked by how many people apply to each, you need them ranked by which ones are best for you to attend. We can’t help you at all there until we know what it is that matters to you. Are you looking for a school that offers a particular subject? One with a culture that is free and relaxed or one where the kids are very focused on getting into the “best” college? Would you thrive at a school with a particular sport option? how does their arts program measure up to what you need?

Regardless of what some of the people around here will say, every school you have listed is an excellent school, and all of them will have some wonderful teachers and some students who will be excellent colleagues and friends for you. There’s not a bad objective choice in the mix–but some will be better or worse for you. That ranking probably doesn’t perfectly line up with “Percentage acceptance rates” which is a dodgy way to weigh the merit of a school. Each one will have different strengths and weaknesses that will make them a better or worse fit for you. It would be a shame to miss out on a school that would’ve been your dream school simply because some thirteen year olds on the internent ranked it lower than some other schools.

Part of the fun of applying to boarding school is that you get to rank what matters most to you, and then search for a school with the mix of academics and culture that fits your individual wish list. Anyone can list statistics. Go to Boarding School Review and have at it. But this is four years of your life and your education. It’s your opinion that counts here.

Thank you! I am interested in a school that has a fairly structured community. I want to be at a school that will prepare me mentally and academically in a challenging, yet not too pressured way. I really enjoy sailing, but I am happy to try something new as a spring sport. I run XC, ski race, play lacrosse, and sail competitively. I really am willing to try anything though. I’m setting academics first but I would love to be at a school with a sailing team, but regardless to that, I’d rather be at a school with better academics and better preparation for me in the future. My goal is to experience something new and improved. I am not the artistic type but i’m a member of many clubs this year, as a freshman. I am applying for sophmore year by the way. I am assuming the social scene may be tough at first, but I am an outgoing person and I don’t want that to get in the way. I have 9 family members who attended St. Georges, and my sister goes to Holderness. I don’t know if that matters, but I thought I would put it out there. Hope this is some quality information about me! Thanks

bump please!

I can’t say much about all of those schools but i can tell you a little bit about Middlesex and St. Georges. Mostly Middlesex

Middlesex has a sick lax team (lacrosse), winning quite a few ISLs in the past few years. I personally don’t play lacrosse but I do run xc. the xc program i have to say only made a comeback in the last two years, before we never had a good team. We don’t have sailing at MX, but we do have a decent crew program, and I understand you sail and if you are serious about that sport, you should consider St. George’s strongly.
Academically, its pretty damn challenging at MX least for me with the courses i am taking. Though of course it will differ person to person. You should visit those schools and see what you like though.

If you have 9 family members that went to St. George’s, you prbly would get accepted as long as you dont have terrible grades. In case you didnt know I have to say if you do decide on Middlesex, you would be going to the school that is St. George’s biggest rival. But that doesnt really matter much, it still all comes down to what you want.

Also, I don’t want to brag, and it also goes against what Albion said. Middlesex does come out with the lowest acceptance rates among that list, and high standardized testing scores. But then again, Albion is right the school you decide is the school that fits you best.

Middlesex is academically rigorous. St. Georges also has excellent academics and good sports programs.
I really dont like to admit it, but St. George does often win a few more times in games against us. I am sure your family members can tell you more about St. Geoges. I hoped my little info about MX helped. :)
