I want to do Early Decision, but I’ve run out of time to take subject tests.

I will have taken the SAT Reasoning Test and the ACT. If I submit the SAT and the ACT, but no SAT Subject tests, will Brown not even look at my SAT scores and just the ACT scores?

TETRIS - YESSS. My favourite band. And I’m seeing them in less than a month. AAAAAAAHHH.

Poorplayer, send the additional rec with any other forms that you’re sending. Put them in sealed envelopes with the recommender’s signature over the seal. Just make sure to write on the outside that it’s an additional recommendation, and make sure to also put your name, high school, and common app number on it.

And I just noticed this is the ED thread, not for general RD applicants. My bad. runs back to Yale board

Hey I’m new here! its nice not to feel so alone in the whole app process…

im having a hard time because i completely fell in love with brown this summer - even though i told myself not to - but i feel totally under qualified. i figure ill apply early with the same odds and i will either be accepted (yay!), deferred (i can keep my options open - for financial reasons), or rejected (i will sadly have to move on and accept that brown just wasnt meant to be). but am i the only one who feels so hopeless, but too hopeful at the same time?

AHH NINJA I AM SO JEALOUS.

fumes silently

Hey does anyone want to chance me? I don’t want to spam the boards with more chance threads only to get no responses
So if any of you guys would be kind enough to chance me just tell me and I’ll PM you.

Outsidein, I feel the exact same way. My relationship with Brown is like the nerdy freshman who fell in love with the cute senior football player. Only he’s not so much a football player as an attractive intellectual hippie.

My grades are decent, but I’m having a hard time with math on standardized tests which count for a lot because I’m homeschooled and have no class rank/GPA/AP scores to back up my grades. The thing is, I feel like I’m a perfect fit for Brown, and hopefully that comes through in my application. I think I might be hoping for too much.

I guess the good thing is that we fell in love with a school that emphasizes diversity. Besides, I think CCers represent some of the smartest people who get into Brown, so don’t feel intimidated by all of the 4.0s and 2400s. If you feel like Brown is a great school for you, do your best to convey that to the admissions people. I’ve seen quite a few people with surprisingly low numbers get accepted in old threads.

Well, we’re all hoping to show Brown the love!

Sorry if this has been answered already (just discovered this thread)… but how long does 1000 characters equate to? like, words/pages wise? also I WANT TO GO TO BROWN SO BADLY. It actually gives me the chills.

It obviously depends on what words you use, but mine are around 160, which is like 1/3 of a page. And I so know what you mean. Yesterday, I memorized what Brown’s coat of arms looks like just so I could draw it everywhere. xD

flower - I’ve been drawing it everywhere too…haha! My mom put up a huge chalkboard in our kitchen and it’s officially being graffiti-ed with the crest :)

For what it’s worth - My SAT scores would have been killer if I hadn’t gotten a god-awful horrendous math score. It’s not easy for me; I’ve also never had decent teachers to help me get it! But it has nothing to do with what I want to concentrate it, and I do want to take math classes with a different approach at Brown. I’m letting them know that, too, WHILE emphasizing my strong points. Believe me, I’m no valedictorian.

1000 chars is approximately 200 words

thanks guys :)

Equestrian - twin! haha. Same with my scores. I want to major in English, so definitely no math in my major, although I’d definitely take a math class taught by a good teacher.

I like math. Shoot me.

hi all.
also applying ED to brown ;D

i’m curious…what do you all think about the supplement essays?
and are there any old samples out there that i can look at?

I hate the character limits on the supplemental essays! :@

Haha flower I love English. And theatre. And art. And music.
But no stinkin’ numbers. :P

Tetris - I still love you, even if you like math :D

math = <3. MATH MAJORS FTW!!! haha. i like all subjects tho… but history and french and economics…
