eeeeek the 14th?? even though its earlier, i honestly, don’t know how I’m going to make it for the next two weeks. at least I’m not alone =) reading through this thread really makes the anxiety bearable =P
whether I’m rejected, deferred or accepted, I’m going to be completely out of it for school Tuesday!

I don’t think we should read into the first quarter grades thing too much. They probably just wanna see how some people are holding up through senior year.

Song of the day: Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead

Kicking it (relatively) old school, yo.

Radiohead is amazing. You’re amazing, Tetris.
PS–I feel like I haven’t talked to you in forever. =[

Yeah, I was wondering about Brown requesting 1st marking pd. grades, too. Who else here knows if Brown requested them from guidance counselor? If they weren’t requested by now, is that not a good thing cuz it may mean they’re NOT interested in you as an ED applicant? Does anyone from previous years know what happened? Admiss. Office still says notification of ED is mid-Dec y’all.

@DC: I KNOW, right? [Euler]. Ooh, check out the FB message I sent you.

By the way, I received email confirmation saying that they’re planning on a 5 PM release of decisions on 12/14, but we should check their website to see if there’s any change in plans.

I wrote the countdown script in javascript and the random phrase bit in PHP. It’s hosted on a virtual private server that I use primarily for other things.

Are you a prospective Computer Science major? :p

Song of the day: Dancing Queen - ABBA

…because there’s a hidden Swedish pop fan in everyone :p

I’m just curious. Since Brown is need-blind, why would you not apply for financial aid?

im soooo obsessed with abba!!! take a chanceee on meeee fav song

random fact of the day!!!
Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king from history:Spades - King David, Hearts - Charlemagne, Clubs - Alexander the Great, Diamonds - Julius Caesar

what happened to king mensus or king tut?

and i didnt get a decision day email…and they didnt call my school early either…idk…do you think if they call your school then they are not sure whether or not to accept you and by having good grades it tips the scales and they would verge to the path of accepting you?
@nycsatboy are there alot of people from your school applying ed?
@nikeofsamothrace um…from what my guidance counselor told me, it is not allowed for the guidance counselors to call the admissions office on behalf of an applicant. if the applicant wants anything they must call in themselves. i know because i wanted her to call and ask something for me and she told me no…so if your guidance counselor gets anything out of them let me know please.

@jimonthewall need-blind means that they would accept you not based on your financial situation but on your other credentials. it doesnt mean that you would apply for financial aid and they wouldnt know that your family is rich or something. and you would have to show the fafsa report saying your family qualifies before you get any money, and i already know i dont qualify because im an only child and parents decided to go out and make too much money >;(

That’s false, Adeyadi. My college counselor has been in contact with my rep twice. It’s a strategy that counselors use to remind officers of their students and to sway the reps further.

Most schools/college counselors advise one to submit his or her first quarter grades only if they are great and will further aid that applicant’s chances. However, if you didn’t submit them originally and Brown wants them now, it could mean many things (many of which have already been stated), but probably that they wanted to track the progress of your academic status even further, whether because your previous grades were slightly mediocre or whether they’re on the fence and want something else to push them towards one side.

^bumppppppppppp pleaseeeeee

I just had my interview today. It was really laid back and I thought it was fun
My GC also didn’t get a call from Brown either… I’m kinda glad they didn’t call cuz my senior year grades are not that excellent. I think if you didn’t get a call, it might mean two things: they are absolutely sure you are gonna be accepted so they don’t need to even look at your senior year grades (thus, they believe that you have good grades) OR they think your grades are really bad up to junior year already that they already rejected you I hope I’m the first case…

thanks alot filmnerd. i hate when people tell guidance counselors one thing and they believe it. but who does she have to call then? the admissions officer for my region or the brown admissions?

If guidance hasn’t been called, should i send my grades myself to the admissions office, or is it too late? my gpa went up this quarter, so it can only help.

Two videos today! Neither of them are really Brown-y, but whatever.
