I’m a senior in Maine and I’ve been accepted to Brown for next year.

The semester is winding down and I have the option of taking AP tests in Statistics and Calculus. I was wondering how Brown deals with APs. Assuming that I classes in each would be required for my intended concentrations, would I be able to place out of either of them? What score would be required?

Honestly, i'm in the same predicament as you with AP tests and all. If my school didn't care, I would be taking NO APs whatsoever, but they make us take finals if we don't take the AP, and seniors + finals don't mix well. So i called the dean who is in charge of AP credit, and there are some worthwhile reasons to take the AP tests, but for the most part, they're pretty useless. AKA english and government for me? Will be a waste of my time considering Brown doesnt even LOOK at them let alone care. o well...

good luck though, and if you didn't already, join the Brown Class of 2010 myspace group :-) we need more people

So.... I was looking over the statistics AP notes and I noticed something that I'm wondering about

4 or 5: may earn one unassigned credit in statistics. The guidelines for AP courses on statistics do not include one-way or two-way analysis of variance. Because these methods are emphasized in experimental psychology, an AP score will not automatically count toward meeting the PY9/CG9 requirement. Students seeking credit for AP scores of 4 or 5 should accompany their request to the transfer credit advisor with course materials showing that their AP course covered the range of topics that are covered in PY9/CG9.

My course didn't directly cover those topics but I'm learning them privately with the teacher. I was wondering what exactly I would need to send. Any help?
