Brown Class of 2019 Early Decision Applicants

It’s official from Brown University Office of Admissions Facebook page: Early Decision applicants can check their admission decision on December 11, 2014 at 5:00 pm EST. #Brown2019. I applied for Education Studies and Neuroscience, can’t wait for next Thursday!

@amandap28 I applied as biochem/molecular bio and/or biophyics but not PLME. I’m hopefully headed more of a non-medical research route.

@themasterhang Very excited for a chance to work with William Fairbrother in the Fairbrother Lab. The chance to get involved in his research on RNA processing was one of the main reasons I went ED.

@ebrook9596 : Yay SoCal! (Love to NorCal too though) And thanks. Calc is my last class, ending it 1:42 sooo it won’t be so bad.

@ebrook9596 My (liberal) parents consider me a conservative. Not the bible-thumping anti-abortion type, just conservative.

I’m sure that any kinds of rational opinions would be fully tolerated/accepted at Brown, though I understand that its a VERY liberal environment.

Is it true that males have higher acceptance rates than females? Just out of curiousity

@luceatluxvestra‌ I feel you!! I’ll be in ap lit!

@themasterhang‌ I’m from SoCal too!!

@ebrook9596‌ you’re so lucky!! I get out at 2:15 on thursday :frowning: also to answer your other question, I’m a republican applying ED lol

Males have higher acceptance rates than females due to the higher number of females applying and Brown keeping the class numbers somewhat balanced.

I’m not sure whether or not I should email the admissions office… before Brown took away that nice little table that told us whether our required docs have been received/their statuses, I noticed only my application fee and SAT/ACT testing items had status updates. The rest were blank. I’m guessing they would’ve contacted my college counselor to tell them if I had any outstanding documents, but wouldn’t there be a status update if they had?

Also, I had no idea decisions were coming out less in 6 days! I never received that email. I hope I don’t get rejected because my required docs were not received. Btw: I submitted my common app/writing supps a few hours before the deadline so that might be what’s holding them up?

btw: Good luck to everyone! :slight_smile:

@jadejewl I believe that the dates that were shown in the other table (on all items other than test scores and application fee) were the received dates. I don’t think there were ever status updates on the other items since the date served as the “received status”.

Whenever you hear the words “December” and “eleventh” does anybody else freak out and relate that to D-Day like I do?

AH!

do you guys see anything under the financial aid tab on your brown account?

@jadejewl‌ I agree with @lax1997 mine had status updates for only the bottom two only. Don’t worry.

@meteos not really, all the information isn’t available yet :/

@amandap28 : D-Day = Decision Day = Doomsday // all the same to me.
@runcupcakerun‌ : Right on!

Yeah I am. I do the IB. Don’t know if I have an ok shot or not.

@ajerid hopefully we’ll be able to study environmental science together next year :neutral_face:

Has anyone actually looked at Brown’s courses or professors specifically?

@newtoib‌ : Just out of curiosity, what’s your predicted IB? No worries if you don’t want to answer!

@owlishly‌ : My concentrations are theatre and art as well!

To the people asking about conservatives at Brown, remember that current Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal is a Brown grad. My interviewer and him were buddies lol
