Brown Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion

@MaybeHarvard2022 If you got into Harvard early, why are you applying to Brown? Give the rest of us a chance lol

@BrKmNk Texas
@sciencenerd123 looool i really like Brown, but theyā€™ll prob give me an L.

I got an interview request, Im from PA

Anyone has idea about when Brown will start to evaluate applications?

They already have @hooverhoo

@hooverhoo the fact that we are receiving interviews is valid proof they have started

@sciencenerd123 what major did u want? ur stats are all the way back

@BrKmNk ? I put BME & Public Health. Doesnā€™t really matter Iā€™m so done with Brown at this point. They deferred 2,318 people. Iā€™m not naive I know I basically have no chance now. Hope I get into Tufts EDII.

For regular applicants, have you received IDOC requests?

@binky99 they donā€™t send IDOC requests to everyone. I think they send those on a case-by-case basis. (check website).

@BrKmNk Agree that they have already started the review process as evidenced by the on-going interviews. I shall clarify my question about ā€œevaluateā€ as: when will they start to put the scores on table (assuming they value a 4.0uw GPA as 10 points, a 35 ACT 6 but 34 ACT as 5 points, etc), and compare John with Lisa with Michael, etc. I am sure they will have a cut-off date for all required material to arrive, and for now they most likely are only busy sorting out all the materials than actually scoring the material. I wonder when the very first show-down starts. I want to add a first-author journal publication to the portfolio but prefer to wait until I get the in-press date and volume number from the Journal.

@MaybeHarvard2022 Congratulations to your Harvard SCEA, are you applying Brown PLME now?

@hooverhoo thank you :). iā€™m not interested in medicine, i listed africana studies and international relations as intended majors.

@sciencenerd123 you needa be patient dude, the quantity of applicants are so high that it is really hard for the admissions office to give acceptances regarding their minuscule acceptance rateā€¦ as an applicant from last year, I too am having doubts and am worried that I will get rejected againā€¦ i was waitlisted till June last yearā€¦ imagine my painā€¦ and try to relax for now

@BrKmNk Iā€™d rather go to a school that wants me right from the startā€“one that doesnā€™t need to see 27,000+ more applications to make a decision. The thing is, Brown broke my heart. I donā€™t want to waste any more time obsessing over a school that doesnā€™t even want me.

@hooverhoo dunno if allowed to share URLā€™s but this is a post on quora that explains the process brieflyā€¦ better than nothingā€¦

@sciencenerd123 I find your attitude incorrect, but heck, who am I to judge

@BrKmNk Can you elaborate? I spent actual weeks crying over my Brown decision. Is it so wrong to want to move on? Of course I still love Brown and I would love to go to Brown (I applied ED after all) but after a certain point you have to try and move on. Iā€™m not so fixated on Brown that if I donā€™t get in I will take a gap year and reapply next year. I know I would love to go to Brown and I know that Brown is a great fit for me and I would thrive there, but your college experience is what you make of it. I can do amazing things at any other school I go to. At some point you have to think ā€œoh well, their loss,ā€ move on, and do amazing things at the school that loved you enough to accept you.

Whatā€™s wrong with this ā€œattitudeā€?

@sciencenerd123 is right, sheā€™s made her peace with it and has moved on. not a poor attitude at all.

No, your intention to move on is your biggest right. I meant as in there are so many accomplished people applying that itā€™s hard for admissions officers to make the right decision. Iā€™m just saying donā€™t give up mate  @sciencenerd123

Bottom-line, LOVE THE SCHOOL THAT LOVES YOU BACK!!!

Remember that the most significant factor in your attainment of success and fulfillment is YOU, not the school. The school can facilitate and to some extent help expedite but its ultimately driven by YOUR attitude, passion, and actions.
