Brown Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

how about PLME? d22 applied for Brown Plme prgram.

no, we havenā€™t submitted it. Our term ends Dec end.

I just got a little worried because it says ā€œFirst Quarter/Trimester Grades**. Early Decision applicants are required to have their counselor submit first quarter or trimester grades as soon as they are available. All applicants should have their school submit midyear or second trimester grades as soon as they are available.ā€. Are first quarter and midyear different? I havenā€™t provided anything as my semester grade also finishes in December, but was I supposed to submit first quarter??

Did you guys have an ā€œxā€ for that category on your checklist?

Yes., there is X mark for first-term grades This is what i see in portal: The First Term Grades/Senior Progress report listed on your Application Checklist has a flexible deadline, as we realize that high schools have different calendars and schedules. There is no need to worry or contact us about this requirement; just ask your guidance counselor to send these grades by email to documents@brown.edu if and when they become available.

In the little blurb I sent above they say to submit first quarter grades as soon as they are available AND their midyear grades as soon as they are available. I think Iā€™m overthinking it but I do wonder why they differentiate between the two since I will only be submitting midyear grades never first quarter ones.

Bc different high schools have different calendarsā€¦some have quarter grades, some have mid year, and some have bothā€¦.

Okay thank you so much this really helped!

Iā€™ve applied for PLME too. Not heard anything yet. Good luck!

Yes. The first quarter is either first quarter grade or a progress report (if kids are on trimester/semester schedule) that the counselor would send. Then around Jan the counselor would send the mid year report.

Thank you so much!

Cornell said on its fb that decisions will be posted 7 PM on 13th. So other ivies might be the same

Donā€™t students have to apply to both schools to get in? How did your friend get in without applying to both schools yet since you can only apply to one of the schools for early decision?

Not sure. I do not know the details. I think you apply only to RISD wherein they have an option to apply for the Joint Program with Brown (BRDD).

Iā€™m pretty sure they donā€™t announce the BRDD program until April or Marchā€¦ But thanks for answering

My counselor just told me she did not send any quarter/progress grades. Should I have them sent now or is it too late?

Yes, go ahead and send them (or try to, anyway). Something not in the file probably wonā€™t matter for ED at this point, but the way the admissions process works there is ā€œhorse tradingā€ between the various AOā€™s championing their favorites almost to the very end.

Thereā€™s only a slight chance the report will change something for ED, wth the most likely outcome being deferral to RD regardless. If the ED outcome would have been Denial (a lot more of those coming out of ED in the last couple of years as applications jumped), it ultimately shouldnā€™t matter anyway: The last-minute addition of a great report barely staving off Denial during ED suggests essentially no chance for admit during the very competitive RD anyway.

So one way or the other, submit.

To add to the anxiety, Cornell has announced a decision date of Dec 13 at 7:00 EST.

Upenn is the 16th at 7 pm, so the ivies are not all on the same date. Although Brown has not released a date, I speculate that it will be December 15th or 16th. 15th is possible because last year portal closed on December 11, and decision released on 17. This year portal closed on the 9th, so 6 days late would be 15th. It could also be the 16th because in the past few years Brown has released their decision on a Thursday.

My college counselor told me that ED decisions last year were released on the 12th. Do they come out on different days depending on region/time zone?
