Brown ED and Cornell RD

Hey,

I’M FREAKING OUT.

Please tell me what I need to do.

STATS:
3.91 UW
4.3 W
30 ACT (originally got a 25, so I’m pretty happy, but hope I can get 1-2 more points in).
EXTRA CURRIC:
NHS (3 years), Key Club (4 years), Class Officer (2 years), Amnesty International (3 years) and OMUN (Debate - 3 years)
150+ hours (volunteer)
8 AP classes
11 honors classes

  1. Under Brown early decision, do you think that I could be a strong candidate for their pool for an English major?
  2. For Cornell, regular, same major as previously stated.

Thanks!

No, and with your stats, my first thought is maybe you should rethink applying to Cornell ED. But of course, you should always apply ED to the school you love most.

Hey, I just wanted to know as well, if I were to apply at Vanderbilt for ED, would that be a good choice? I’m related to alumnus and I’m qualified as a Native American on applications.

I don’t know how much being Native American will help, but your chances at all three of these schools are poor regardless of whether you apply ED or not. Though your GPA and course rigor are impressive, your ACT score needs to be upwards of a 33, and your EC’s are lackluster – they show little leadership or passion.

If you get your ACT score up any higher, then things might be looking better. I’d strongly suggest not applying ED to Brown as it doesn’t help much, but choose the school you love most. Just don’t waste your ED on a school because of that school’s rank or prestige – it’s not worth it.

Are you registered with your NA tribe, if not, then you have little chance, if so then you have a decent chance, and an even better chance if you apply to Dartmouth.
