Brown (ED)? Princeton? Swarthmore? Colgate?

Reposting in a nicer format... I hope.

Title says it all. Thanks to anyone who reads the whole thing! And yes, I know they're mostly all reaches for everyone. I'm just looking to keep myself entertained 'till I hear back from Brown (applied ED).

White male in Philly suburb, about $160,000 income

Essays:
Writing is a passion... I think both essays are strong.
Common app short answer is about why I love writing workshops.
Common app essay is about an experience giving hospice care to an AIDs patient in Tanzania in the summer of my 6th grade year.
Supplementary essay is in response to "What don't you know" prompt - I talk about my belief in God mainly (I say I don't know anything about physics), and how I've come to terms with not knowing anything about life and death.

Supplements (these have only gone to Brown):
Writing - a bunch of poems (including a few contest winners)
Music - a selection of excerpts from my benefit concert
Art - about 10 pieces. Most of it is on here if you wanna get an idea: toddstong on deviantART

Recs:
English and Calc teachers, Counselor
I know one (English) is nice, don't know anything about the others. I assume they're also good.

Interview:
Went very well - it was more a conversation than an interview, although I feel I might've been a little under-dressed. (Showed up at a Starbucks in jeans and a semi-nice long-sleeve shirt.)

Can't really think of anything else. This is basically my resume, reformatted.
Oh, and I know there's no admittance based on intended major, but I emphasize heavy interest in visual art and creative writing.

Very interesting essay topics :-). I honestly do not believe you have anything to worry about.

Wow. Your accomplishments are definitely commendable as well. Like you said, all of these schools are a toss-up of sorts, but I really do think you have a great shot at getting into them. The SAT scores are your weakest point and even they are reallllyy good, and with the focus on the expressive arts, you have a hook. Good luck!

Thanks for chancing me :)

Haha no problem, and thank you, too. Who knows? Maybe I’ll see you in class one day.

Shameless bump.

saw your art on the site you provided and all i can say is OMG.

You’re an absolute prodigy!

Not like I’m an art student and have any knowledge about art haha, but if I were to see your art and not know your age, I would’ve assumed they were done by someone much older.

Great Job and Good Luck!

wow, the only possible thing that could take you down is class rank, other than that it’s really impressive.

Brown: match
Princeton: mid- to low- reach. you have a chance.
Swarthmore: match
Colgate: match

chance me please!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/818137-chance-me-emory-columbia-yale-etc-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Brown ED- in?
Princeton- idk! It’s a toss-up
Swarthmore- in
Colgate- in

Those are your only schools? Or are you just not giving safeties? I think you’ll be into at least one of those schools, so I guess you shouldn’t worry about those (I had a friend with Northwestern as a safety last year).

I’m in a similar boat as you in terms of finances ($250+), and I’ve tried to look at schools that will give me SOME money (e.g. “less” selective ones, though not really, or ones with good merit aid), maybe you should try for that too? I don’t know about Swarthmore or Colgate’s aid policies, you might get some there. Or, if your parents can afford to/are paying for your school… I hate you.

chance bak plz
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/782305-emory-rice-usc-duke-princeton-etc-chances.html</a></p>

Nope… my brother took up most of the college fund (Boston University is expensive!). The rest was lost to the banks… I’m not applying to many colleges in part because I’m constantly looking/applying for scholarships. Bah. But I think Brown gives pretty good financial aid. I know Princeton would give me something like 20K a year, if I got in.
Some of my super-safeties are Susquehanna and Emerson. Maybe UNC Chapel Hill… haven’t looked much into it though. I’m hoping I won’t need to.

i def think Brown is within reach. you arent the strongest application but you have enough going on to make you stand out from the usual “4.0 2390 Violin player”. My only concern for you would be your in-school EC’s but it appears you’re active outside of school so perhaps it isnt a concern at all. I think your common app is a little weak just because it was from 6th grade and i think any college would be more interested in hearing about 9th-12th but your other parts are good esp the “what dont you know” essay. So i def think brown is within reach not a def but you’re def not getting rejected. I’d say there’s a 70% chance you’ll get in 29% chance of deferral and 1% chance of rejection.
Chance me back!!!

hi there, wow i must say, you look very much like someone that has best chances to get admitted to all these schools. i don´t think your sats are such a weak point (of course, put in perspective with the rest of your application, they do look a bit weak) but deffo in the middle range, so nothing to worry about there.
hope you get in wherever you want to, good luck
chance me back please

Wow…;;;;;
You definitely get into Brown… I think you don’t have to even prepare for regular…
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/803462-my-chances-brown.html#post1063452305</a></p>

kysema10 - while the essay mainly focuses on the experience (which was indeed a long time ago), I also tie it back to how I live my life now and to how I plan to keep living it… although I wish I had made mention of my benefit concert, now that I think about it. Oh well, that’s something I’ll add for the next schools should I get rejected.

Thank you for chancing me. I’ll give this my best shot, though I’m in the same boat as you - a senior vying for admission. I really think you presented yourself well in your application and having a major talent in the arts is a definite plus.

Brown: in - I think they will find the God essay compelling
Princeton: in - the art sounds great, especially for a not-that-well-known art school
Swarthmore: in
Colgate: in

4 out of 4 good luck!

Wow haha! Thanks. I’m not gonna be quite that enthusiastic, though.

Brown= high match/ low reach
Princton= reach
Swarthmore= high match
Colgate= match

Chance Back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/804723-chances-ed-dartmouth.html</a></p>

Princeton will be hard, but everything else looks great!

I think you have a great chance of getting into all of those school except Princeton. Princeton might be hard with the SAT score, but isn’t that everyone’s story?

Haha good luck <3
