I have a 33 on the ACT (so about average), and I got a 770 on bio M and a 700 on Lit. I’m definitely planning re take lit because I didn’t study much, but do you think a 770 is enough for bio M? It’s in the 86th percentile or something like that, which seems a little low. Thanks!
More than enough
Don’t get caught up with percentiles. It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the ones that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.
What about a 710 in math 2? That’s too low for Brown, don’t you think? Problem is that daughter is now in calculus 2 at the state university so it’s been a long time since she studied the math 2 materials and her high school teacher for that wasn’t very good so might take a good bit of studying to get it up higher. Do colleges give you a break on the recommended subject tests if you’re well past the covered material. It seems like schools are moving away from these testing requirements.
No. And never blame the teacher.
It really depends on the other Subject Test score and the rest of the application. A 710 on its own will not torpedo an application. Also, in the future, as this is the second example I have seen from you today, please do not hijack threads; it violates the rules of the forum and is considered rude to the OP… Start a new thread instead to ask about your daughter.
Thanks @skieurope and my apologies! I was trying to be efficient by not starting a new thread and requiring experts like yourself to toggle back and forth. Didn’t mean to hijack. Now I know better!
