what would be better - an essay focusing on one of my passions? or an essay focusing on why i want to go to Brown?..considering that i want to go to brown reeeaaaalllly badly. if i do a ‘why brown’ essay, would the brown admissions officers think i dont have any interests?

hahaha no worries, you get to do both! the brown app (barring any changes for the 2007-2008 application year) requires that you submit a "Personal Statement" which is just an open-ended essay, so that's where you get to write about your passion. Also, you have to write a shorter essay on why you want to go to Brown and what you plan on studying and how it suits you, etc, etc. So basically, making such a decision is a non-issue for you. have fun writing them both.

ohh ok, thanks

I didn't write an essay on why I wanted to go to Brown.

its not really an extended essay--more like, who interested you in brown, and what studies do you want to pursue at brown and why etc, all in the 200 word range (or something like that i believe). the extended essay is your personal essay that could (but doesn't have to, and probably shouldn't) say why you want to go to brown.
