I've applied to Brown RD and just found out I have to give an alumni interview. I don't really have any other experience with interviewing and I have to give one with a Vassar alum as well. Any advice?

The best thing to do in the interview is be yourself. My daughter is finishing up her first semester at Brown. It was barely year ago when she had her interview. She was so scared and stressed out. Due to weather and car issues, by the time we got to the interview she was a basketcase.

Luckily, she was able to take a deep breath, calm her nerves, and she nailed the interview. She's a little quirky, and knows it, so at first she tried to be real "normal" but the interviewer got her relaxed, and the real girl came out, and I think that was the important part.

Brown is a pretty relaxed campus from what I've experienced, and they are looking for genuine people. They want people who want to be there more than any other place. If it's not your first choice school, be careful about talking about your first choice. If it is your first choice, make sure you make that clear, without going overboard of course.

Good luck. Brown was the absolute best place for my daughter and she's loved every minute so far.

the interviewer will probably ask you why you want to go to Brown so just think of an articulate answer for that, and they'll probably ask if there is anything you want them to tell Brown that might not be totally obvious on your application. Just be friendly and polite.
