Hi, I’m wondering how Brown looks at music supplements (like can musicians be “recruited”)? Also how are Brown’s music opportunities?
Music opportunities are awesome. What are you specifically interested in? (I concentrated in music at Brown)
In terms of supplements, definitely good to send one in, especially if you have a lot of music-related extracurriculars. Generally it’s sent to a relevant member of the music faculty (piano to piano faculty, most orchestral instruments to the orchestra conductor - though it’s someone new this year - singing to voice faculty, etc) and they’re asked to comment. I wouldn’t say that musicians are “recruited,” though.
Include a recording, a music resume, concert programs or media if relevant, and of course up to two recommendation letters from teachers or directors who know you musically but also as a person so they can address you character, work ethic, how you work with others, other interests, etc.
