I am a total fan of gymnastics. When I found out Sacramone attended Brown, I was like, "More the reason to go!" Haha...

meanwhile, stanford has over twenty times as many people going

elpope, i doubt stanford has 40+ olympians, but either way, anything having to do with another school isn't relevant to this thread

there are obviously several brown students and alumni in the Beijing olympics, i just highlighted two that seem to be getting a lot of media attention--Alicia Sacramone for being the leader of the women's gymnastics team and Anna Willard for representing the U.S. in a new olympic event

Alicia is an awesome, awesome girl. Not bad considering the Ivies are not considered a bastion of sports talent.

that punch would have been so much funnier if it was unplanned at fishco and not planned on the steps of Sigma Chi.

i think that guys name is Sam. I can't quite make out his face.

and what the hell is steeplechase?

steeplechase is like a horserace with people instead of horses lol.
3000m, with like 28 giant hurdles and every fourth one has a big pool (puddle) of water that they have to run through for what ever reason. I had no idea what it was till this week either, but it gives curling a run for its money in the dumb olympics dept. lol.

that's clearly Thete, not Sigma, notice the broken brown bench on the porch, and the fact that the building extends off to the side, which Olney does not.

Steeplechase is a long distance race where they jump over hurdles that often contain pools of water behind them, it's pretty intense.

There are plenty of videos of hilarious falls, but I tried to find one that showed more of the race.

^^oh, my bad my bad. tremendous apologies :)

Alicia Sacramone <3 ::sigh::

i'm sorry, but that's an olympic sport how?

ClaySoul, how fast can you run a 5k in which you have to jump over 3.5ft hurdles with an 8 foot pool of water behind them?

despite the unideal performance, alicia appears to be the second most popular U.S. olympian after phelps

i wish she'd gotten bronze in the vault

I really wish I could hear the judges justify that the chinese girl falling during her vault was a better performance than Alicia's.
