I’m currently an incoming freshman at Indiana University. Up until April of this year, there wasn’t really anywhere other than IU that I was interested in – I had planned to go to IU all of my life. However, in April, I ended up visiting both Brown and Georgetown (along with a few other schools) with a younger friend of mine, and fell in love with both of them. At this point, it was obviously too late to apply, and I had already been accepted/notified IU that I was going to attend. Now, I’m planning on attending IU for my freshman year, and then transferring to one of these two schools.

I had a pretty strong high school GPA (3.7/4.0 at a competitive public school), took almost all AP/honors classes, and scored a 1400 on the old SAT.

I have no doubt that my GPA at IU will be in the 3.7-4.0 range. I’m going to be taking a full course load. (Do I need to give y’all information about which courses I’m taking?)

Here are my worries:
I’m not in the Honors College first semester, due to a mix-up on my part. (I assumed that I would be automatically admitted when my scores/GPA were at the right level, so I didn’t submit an application.) I will be in the Honors College second semester.

As I didn’t plan to attend any school other than IU, I never took any SAT II Subject Tests, and assume that it’s now too late to take them.

Does anyone have any idea of my chances at either of those two schools or any thoughts on how to compensate for the lack of SATII Tests? Anything else that I should be worried about? Anyone who successfully transferred to either of these two schools? Am I aiming too high?

I'm going to be studying International Relations and Economics.

Yeah, there's no way I'd transfer out of the Kelly School of Business (assuming I was actually studying business) unless IU turned out to be unbearable or something -- It's a great business school.

I'm pretty sure Brown requires three SAT II scores for transfer students. It's not too late to take them. Just make sure that the scores will be available by the beginning of March when the application is due. You'll want to keep your gpa high (easier said then done, i know), since you'll be applying with only one semester's worth of college work.

and not to doubt your confidence or anything, but when you say "i have no doubt my GPA will be..." dont let that make you think, "Oh im going to state school it will be so easy..." give it a few weeks before you judge...

Yeah, that came across really cocky, didn't it?

I suppose I meant more that given my current motivation (transfering to Georgetown or Brown) I'm going to work my hardest to get a GPA in the 3.7-4.0 range, not that IU was going to be easy or below me.
