Brown recruiting

I'm an average B+/A- junior. I'm in all honors/AP classes. I have a 3.4 UNweighted GPA. and am in the top 25% of my class. I came 2nd in state my sophomore year at javelin, and went to the regional championship. I got an email from the Brown track coach that said she would like me to consider joining their track program there. She set up a meeting next wedneaday with her. I live in RI itself so theres no paying for a plane ticket or anything involved. Do you think she has checked my records already and wants me? Do u think I have a shot at getting in? What should my SAT scores be?

My guess is you’d need a score of 2100 and preferably higher. For a national champion, 1800 might be enough.

You might consider asking the moderator if you can take out some of the identifying information from your post. It would be very easy to find out who you are from your post.

I think the point of the meeting is to get a feel for your academics to see if she thinks you have a shot at getting in. She may have already contacted your coach to get a feel for what kind of student you are, but she wouldn’t have been able to access your academic records without your consent.

I agree with GFG on SAT score range. Maybe a little lower will be okay if they are in dire need of a jav thrower and there aren’t many smart ones in the pool this year.

She also probably wants to meet you in person to see if you look like you might have another 30 ft in you. ;-)

Brown has a high AI so try as best you can to get those test scores up at 2100 +
Not sure bout your sport but for my kids’ sport, coach did not weight GPA so sadly no much credit for higher level courses. Get those grades closer to A- than B+ (I know it’s a tall order but it is Brown after all). Go to the meeting with some good questions and a good ear for what coach tells you. Until end of year grades and all scores are in, you probably won’t get a solid read since the coach won’t have enough info to pre read you through admissions
