Brown-RISD application-type question

I’m working on the academic interests/why Brown question on the app and I’m not sure what to do. I am interested in Brown’s cross-registration with RISD but I don’t know if I should write that as one of my reasons for choosing Brown. It is by no means the only reason (and I would definitely want to go to Brown even if that didn’t exist); it’s just something I would add at the end.

So, either it would show that I know a lot about Brown and would take advantage of every opportunity available there;
or
I could possibly come off like I only want to go to Brown b/c of RISD.

Should I add that in or not?

ask your school's college counselor, that's what he's there for.

the affiliation with RISD is one of the many things that makes Brown unique. why wouldn't you mention it? just make sure you talk about other reasons as well

btw, do you know about this website? --you might find it interesting/helpful
<a href="http://risd.brown.edu%5B/url%5D">http://risd.brown.edu</a></p>

You should definitely mention it. As you say, it is not the ONLY reason that you like Brown but is one of many. Make sure you explain WHY the cross registration with RISD appeals to you, and of course what else you find appealing about Brown. My D mentioned it in her Why Brown Essay. That essay asks why Brown but it also asks about your academic interest area. Her area was architectural studies and she gave very specific reasons why their program was appealing to her and ONE of those reasons was RISD courses (again this was part of explaining her interest in that field, what she had done so far in it and what was appealing about Brown's program in that field.......in ADDITION to her Why Brown parts). By the way, she now goes to Brown and is taking a course this semester at RISD.
