I know brown loves hooks and character, and i think i have that. My essay will dominate and will be about music and my life. I wanna major in Comp Music/Electronic Media, and will attend Summer@brown Music course this summer. I have legacy at cornell and extended legacy at brown(is an aunt considered?) I also have some friend admissions connections that might do somthing or nothing.

i probably forgot i lot of stuff. i appreciate honest comments. Oh and other schools with good music tech majors. Oh and other people going to summer@brown. Oh and if my superfluous utilization of the () ****ed you off.

I think you have a good set of extracurreculars and GPA is good. alumni always helps a lot, so I've heard. but even without the connections and the legacy, Tufts and Brown should be within your reach if you score 700-800 on the SAT II's and do a decent job on the essay (focus on the music). To get into Cornell, I think you should retake the SAT I and bring it up about a 100 points to 2230 (or at least score above 700 on all three sections).

gregunit, your chances look great, but remember that you're applying to uberselective schools that are known for their unpredictable admissions. So definitely look for matches and solid safeties.

If you like Cornell's size, in population and in breadth of academic offerings, check out Michigan, perhaps?

Oberlin shares some of Brown's "quirkiness" and has a well-regarded music school.

Wesleyan is considered a smaller version of Brown, and it has a fantastic arts program with many opportunities for students interested in tech.

That's all I can think of now. Hope this helps!!

I dont think Berkeley is a match unless you live in California, but I think you have great chances. I just visited cornell for some stuff and it was amazing, I dont know if I will go there, but it was great. Dont believe the hype about the suicide rate and the students being unhappy, they are all lies. Yea, but take the sat over and shoot for 700+. If you really work at it and stuff, it will happen for you. But also remeber, college admissions is crazy and you never know what will happen, NEVER! SO, we can say you are a good fit (which you are) but dont take that as you are getting in. So good luck!
