rejected and applied for FA
Just checking in. Congrats to those who got in and for those WL and denied I hope for the best. I was admitted a while back and here is what my acceptance letter says. It has been slightly edited for privacy reasons.
Dear XXX,
Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to Brown University as a transfer student for entrance in September 2021. You are one of a small group of highly-qualified students accepted from among more than 2,700 applicants. You and your classmates will be welcomed into a vital and vibrant community of scholars and leaders with a centuries-old tradition of academic excellence. You were chosen not only for what we believe you can contribute to our academic community, but also for what you will gain from the wonderful opportunities that distinguish and define undergraduate education at Brown.
Based on your completed academic work, and contingent upon the successful completion of your current courses, we estimate that you will begin your enrollment at Brown as a XXXX. Your final college transcript, including the final grades for the courses you are currently completing, must be emailed to transferapp@brown.edu by June 15, 2021. Veteran students must also send a copy of their DD-214 to the Office of College Admission by June 15, 2021, while those still on active duty must do so within 7 days of their EAOS. The Transfer Credit Guidelines link in your portal will provide additional information on credits, and policies regarding degree requirements and transfer credit are detailed through the Transfer Orientation website. Please contact transfers@brown.edu with any questions.
All transfer students must complete at least 15 courses at Brown in order to earn an undergraduate degree. More specific information about housing will be shared prior to your arrival. Please visit the Office of Residential Life website for information regarding residence halls, residential programming and campus policies.
Please reply online to notify us of your decision by June 1, 2021. In the meantime, on behalf of the entire Brown community, please accept my congratulations on your admission. We look forward to welcoming you to Brown.
Sincerely,
Logan Powell
Dean of Admission
Please note that prior to your matriculation we expect you to maintain academic and social records of the same high quality that you have demonstrated in your career thus far, and to successfully complete all courses in which you are currently enrolled. Please also be aware that due to limited funding transfer students who did not apply for financial aid in their initial application for admission are ineligible for assistance in subsequent years.
failed a final and got rejected from Cornell and brown lmao what a day
For those who were rejected such as myself, don’t feel, bad, really! A former classmate of mine applied to transfer to Brown from a university that is both ranked higher in almost any ranking and most people would rather go to (he is transferring because he finds his current school too rigid in requirements, based on this you can probably figure out where he goes to haha), yet he was rejected today from Brown. Not only that but he was ADMITTED last year as a freshman!
We truly have no scope into the decision-making process for the AOs, and it genuinely is NOT a reflection of how smart you are or how high achieving you are. You just have to pick yourself up, and go on with your life.
For those that were accepted, congrats! I certainly am impressed by your achievement and hope you end up choosing Brown. It really seems like a special place and a school where anyone can thrive!
Rejected. Expected it. Submitted wrong personal statement.
accepted brown cs!
So you’re going to pick Brown over Duke, right?
Accepted!

“it genuinely is NOT a reflection of how smart you are or how high achieving you are”
I’ve interviewed hundreds of Brown applicants who are in the smart/high-achiever category, meaning that they have what it takes to be successful there. Just the same, hardly any from even that cohort are admitted. For a long time, the number of superior applicants has far outstripped how many people can be squeezed into the campus.
Was anyone accepted for spring ‘22?
rejected haha. its ok BU offered me a very generous FA package today.
perhaps!
also is there any way to connect with other transfers? I cant seem to find a Facebook page or anything hahaha
same I feel you
For those who were waitlisted, did it say a range of how many transfer applicants in the past have been accepted from the waitlist?
Rejected, didn’t know they were needs aware for transfers when I applied tbh lmao
