Brown vs JHU pre-med

I’m between brown and Hopkins for pre-med, but I’m having a tough time making a decision. Both have strong academic programs and are in locations that I like. I want to also major in psychology. I like the open curriculum and having the ability to experiment with different classes, but Hopkins is known for being a great place for pre-meds. Any advice?

JHU is known as a pre-med factory that exemplifies all the negative stereotypes of pre-med. Brown on the other hand http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/1284648-brown-best-place-pre-med.html?highlight=brown+is+the+best+place+for+pre+med

If you are premed you need to know the average GPA to get into med school is 3.7. The average GPA at JHU is 3.26 and the average GPA at Brown is 3.63. The average student at Brown will get in and the average student at JHU will not.
Good luck.

^This is shortsighted. See post #14: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/pre-med-topics/1499009-schools-grading-system.html

From someone who is a fan of both schools and plans on applying to both:

You will probably get a better GPA at brown (this is important).

The rigor of JHU will prepare you better for the MCAT (this is also important).

JHU Med >>> Brown Med and JHU Med is notoriously incestuous (edge JHU).

You will undoubtedly (subjective) have a better social life at Brown (edge Brown).

Overall Brown prestige> Overall JHU prestige. However, JHU pre med (or BME) is more prestigious than Brown pre med.

DISCLAIMER: This is all my own opinion and completely subjective

disagree
disagree
agree (although not any more incestuous than any other medical school which means not that incestuous at all)
agree
agree/disagree
